If We Were Having Coffee on the 22nd of October, 2022 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is pretty cool out. There wasn’t a frost last night, but we did have one earlier in the week. It is sunny and will get relatively warm today, though I may be inside. More about that later. Anyway, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from New Hampshire.

This was a work week. Enough said. Yuck.

I had to bring my car in for a state inspection, oil change and other such stuff. Unfortunately I need breaks and they wouldn’t pass the car without them. So I have to bring it back. On the same day I have to return to the dentist :( Oh well.

I had massage this week. That was a high point, but it also meant I wasn’t able to exercise that day. So Monday I visited a friend after work, Tuesday I didn’t feel well at all, Wednesday I had massage, Thursday I brought the car in to have work done, after work on Friday was many phone calls to work out when I will have the breaks done. So no exercise at all :( I mean, some of those things were very nice (visiting friend, massage) and I’m glad I did them, but… Today our Lions Club is doing a Penny Sale, which means I will be working from noon until about 11 PM. And tomorrow is booked up. After a terrible work week I want to go for an all day hike!

Oh well, I guess that is being an adult…

OK, enough complaining, I still have four hours before I have to start working. I will be outside for the vast majority of those four hours! And tomorrow will be a lot of fun, so no complaints there either! And, as I said, there were high points in the week! Besides those I mentioned, i did get a some writing done.

And being an adult does have its plus sides, so…

Anyway, As I just hinted, I need to be going. I will try to stop by for visits off and on over the next few day, but I can promise nothing.

Hope you are having a good weekend! Talk later.

Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

Thanks! Actually the birthday is still to come, as is part 2 of car repair and part 2 of dentist appointment – all three on the same day ;) I still haven’t had a chance for full day hike, but perhaps I can sneak one in before we are too deep into hunting season (I’m not against hunting, but some trails go pretty close to where people hunt, and…) Hope you are having a great week.

Breaks and dentist on the same day… which happens to be my birthday. So far the week is going well, despite too much adulting. I hope you have had a good start as well, despite what I know you have been doing to meet looming deadlines….

Yuk on car work. We just bought a new-to-us used car and noted that a side view mirror was damaged. We were left with the idea that it would cost around $500 to repair by the dealership. We went ahead and surprise, the dealer was wrong. Because it has a camera to show the driver whatever might be in the blind spot which also had to be repaired which requires a $500 alignment to full cost turned into closer to $1300.
Bottom line is that I can’t get car related work done without feeling needlessly ripped off.
I’d be willing to bet you work real hard at having your products work for your customers. The car industry now works at least that hard to find credible ways for cars to wear out or just fail to generate lots of demand for parts.
    Grrr.
But New England is turning beautiful again. It must be lovely. It’s always lovely.
    Have a great week.

Dealing with car issues is a pain. I think 500 let alone 1300 is too much for a side mirror, but in a way I do understand the camera,so… Too many people look only at short term profits, which is damaging in the long run. Despite what some might think, that is not an anti-Capitalist statement…
Last week was peak week here, and it was beautiful, though not the best year I have seen. It is still pretty, but there are now many bare trees. I do love October and actually enjoy the beginning of jacket weather.
      Have a great week.

Doing routine medical stuff does count for adulting in my book. And I am looking forward to the time when I can have weeks like yours instead of working… Won’t be long. Thanks, have a wonderful week.

This week has turned into a busy week as well – I think October is always the busiest month of the year, which is bad because it is the month that I want more free time! Any car work is a pain, and breaks… I drive a plug in hybrid, which means I use the breaks sparingly (if you half press, you generate electricity and don’t touch the break pads, but it slows the car down almost as much as breaks). So I never wear out my breaks, they rot out. So I am spending money on it because I don’t use them!
Anyway, hope you are having a good week :)

Thanks. The Penny Sale was a lot of work, but I think it went well. The car did pass except for the breaks, so once the breaks are replaced, all should be good (I hope ;) ).
Thanks, I hope you have a wonderful week as well!

Oh yea… the adult life. I hope you can make time for a good hike soon. I’ve just been out for a nice walk, here it’s cloudy and moody and we’ve had some weird rain showers but it’s mild and nice. A dark roast would be good though!
By the way I LOVE those autumn colours in today’s photo.

Thanks. I was able to get out a little more than expected – I finally got a good run in and I walked the mile each way to help set up for the event. We’ll have some showers tomorrow, put it is relatively mild for this time of year.
I took a photo of that same spot for each of the seasons, but I do like the autumn one best. Of course, of the seasons I like autumn best, so…
I hope you are having a good weekend and have a great week ahead!

Ah – yes – the ups and downs of being an adult. As much as i like the benefits, there are days that I really miss being a naive school boy with few responsibilities. For now, I’ll settle to just have time to write a few stories about those good old days.

I think it was the father in Calvin and Hobbes that said something like, “If I knew what it was really like to be an adult, I wouldn’t have been in such a hurry to grow up!” lol, I do sometimes wish I could go back to being a student, but, then, there are pluses to adulthood, even if they are sometimes hard to see… Yeah, I’ll make the most of the free moments when I have them. And, despite it being a super long day, in some odd way I do enjoy working the Penny Sale (yesterday’s all day event).

I’m constantly irritated when ‘duties’ interfere with my day. Especially when I’m up to my eyeballs creating a promising blog post and my son needs a ride to work. “Driving while thinking” will one day be my excuse at the scene of the accident. ;-)

I have no problems with “driving while thinking”, my problem is that they let other cars on the road while I am doing it! lol, actually, that is one reason I don’t like overly aggressive, underly talented, or other types of bad drivers – I can’t do my own thinking if I have to watch those, uhm, folk ;)

I’m glad you passed inspection. yes, mine is going to be much more expensive than I expected, which is made worse since I replaced the tires only a couple of months ago, so have already put a lot of money into the car! I hope you are having a good weekend.
