Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage. It is still a little cool out. With the clear skies, I think last night was the coldest it has been this autumn, down to the upper 20s (about -2 C), so, yeah, I think our second or third frost of the year. But it will get pretty warm later today, and I have on a short sleeve shirt. Odd, but looking at the next week, it will be an unusually warm (for November) next week. I regret putting away most of my short sleeve shirts a couple of weeks ago – I have worn all of the ones I left out this week, and next week will be warmer! I’ll have to pull some out. Just weird – I am usually in a turtleneck by the 20th. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
A work week – ‘nough said about that.
As I said last week, our Lion’s Club had the big Penny Sale last week, sharing duties with the local PTO. It was a long day, but went well. I was able to get out an walk and run (I walked the mile or so each direction for the set up). Our Lions also held a “Candidates Night” for local candidates on Monday, but I was unable to attend (for me, buying coffee was more important – I was completely out ;) ). Our district governor came to our Tuesday Lions Club meeting. Yep, lots of Lions stuff…
I got together with a few friends for a whisky tasting (It was Scottish whisky, so no “e”) last Sunday afternoon. It was a lot of fun. I picked out the whiskys and gave a five minute talk about history, making, why I picked the ones I did, etc. So, yeah, no matter how outlaw you want to be, careful if you invite a nerd ;)
I was able to run and exercise more this week than last, but still not 100% into the routine. That being said, in the last month or so I did break through a plateau, so good.
The foliage was past peak this week, but to me it was by far the prettiest week this year – there were still a lot of deep, dark golds, dark reds, etc. The sun in the evening seem to light the woods on fire. And this is with most of the trees already bare. Over all, a great week for fall. Next week will be very muted, but still pretty. It is odd, but there does seem to be a cosmic switch on Halloween that goes from jumping out to that sad, dull, yet still gorgeous in its own way, colors over night.
So I did the usual this week. Walks and dog walks, dog play, cat play, chores around the house, reading, and writing. Actually, I did pretty well on the writing front and am about 17K words into my WIP, which I started at the end of last week.
Anyway, it is warming up and I will most likely take the dogs for a long walk in a few minutes. i have plans for the afternoon. In other words, I need to be going. Thanks for stopping in! If you have a coffee share I will try to visit.
Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!
Whisky, pennies and fall foliage – sounds like a great week :)

Our temps are similar to yours. I took an early morning walk this morning and there was frost on the grass. I like this season.
It sounds like you had a productive week. You even got more words down than I did for my school report :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a fabulous week to come!

I do love this time of year as well! A bit of frost in the morning is fine, and I’d rather have the 50s and 60s than 80s and 90s and, what was it in Vegas? Too hot!
It was a productive week in many ways. When I get rolling on my writing, the words just flow out and I can get a lot down.
Thanks, I hope you are having a nice weekend as well – I just saw some photos on Facebook so I know you’ve been getting out at least a bit. Have a wonderful week!

Sounds like a productive week, with a bit of fun with whisky tossed into the mix.

That pretty much sums it up – very productive and a bit of fun washed down with whisky.
Hope you are having a good weekend.

Brrr… That’s a bit chilly but interesting you will be warming up again. We are expecting rain this week, we will see as sometimes it doesn’t come like they say. I here you getting out and about as I’ve been so busy this last month!! Enjoy your weekend and week ahead! 😀

Where you are from this seems cold, but… Around this time of year hitting freezing over night and then getting up to the upper 50s or low 60s is pretty normal and feels nice – jacket weather. We have some days in 70s coming up and nights in the 50s – we have nights in the 50s in July!
I hope you do get rain – I am assuming you are in drought. And I hope you can get out and about some – I did get out a little yesterday (5 dog walks…) and hope to more today (though mostly raking leaves).
I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a wonderful week!

Thank you for your weekend coffee share. I’m glad the Penny Sale went well and you had a productive week and fun whisky tasting with friends. Hope you have an enjoyable weekend and a great week ahead.

Hmmm….you had some good smiles…we have stupendous color this year too…on the way out though. Was expecting to make it to AL this winter, but husband has to get some medical stuff done…so we’ll see. Over all, not such a smiley week for us here…the puppy we thought we were getting ended up being sent to a ‘show’ home (we are a ‘pet’ home)…so we’re starting over with a new breeder who finds out next week if her girl is pregnant. I hope so, and I hope this was all meant to be. It’s awful quiet here. Well. Not TODAY, today is watching FOOTBALL day so it’s pretty noisy. LOL.

I hope your husband’s medical work isn’t too bad and that you are able to make it to AL. Sorry about the puppy. Yeah, we’ve worked with people who sell to owners who show. It is different. Hope you find a puppy soon! I hope you are having a good weekend :)

Did not know that about whisk(ey)! Enjoy your weekend!

Yep, Ireland and US is “ey” while Scotland and Canada are “y” (general rule of thumb, but not always).
Thanks, hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Hey Trent, except for all that lion around you did, you’re settling into the best fall the US has to offer just fine. Here we have sycamore trees, which produce some pretty dramatic fall leaves, but still not as amazing as the common stuff of New England. Enjoy and share a few photos with us.

It has been nice, but I haven’t taken any photos this year and it is a bit late now. I used to take hundreds of photos every autumn, and now I take very few. This year I have an excuse – I have been so super busy that when I have been able to get outside, the last thing I want to do is bother with technology – that is why I am outside! I never carry phone nor camera or anything else that didn’t exist before the 12th century ;)
Have a great weekend.

Oh, is it so cold where you are. Shouldn’t be a surprise. Our weather is very mild this autumn, we get a lot of wind and rain but it’s still 15C/59F.
How fun to organise a whisky tasting!! What whiskies did you pick? I was actually selected to join a tasting online with Dingle distillery on Monday, I’m looking forward to that.

This time of year we see nights dip below freezing and days about where you say yours is – 15C/59F. I start to wear my turtlenecks when it is constantly below 60F, and the wool sweaters come out when it is consistently below 12C. Next week the highs will be around 21C/70F. That is odd for here in November!
The whisky tasting was a lot of fun! I know, living where you do, that you are more into Irish whiskeys. Anyway, I chose Glenkinchie 12 for a lowland whisky, Glenlivet a12 for a Speyside, Highland Park 12 for a Highland whisky, Talisker 10 to represent the western islands and Glenmorangie “The Lasantana” 12, which, after 10 years in Bourbon barrels, is aged another two years in sherry casks and has a heavy sweetness (compared to the others!). It was a wide variety of tastes and even the non-whisky drinker in the group enjoyed exploring it.
Hope your weekend is going well and that you have a good time at the tasting on Monday!

Thank you, all is good here and it seems I was one of the lucky few who received intact sample packs for the tasting! They were very unlucky with the courier company and lots of people received broken glasses and broken bottles.
I love both Irish whiskey and scotch, those you had on your tastings are some nice scotch whiskies. We’re a lot into the peated stuff from Islay but there are lots of good unpeated whiskies too.

I am sorry that some of the other participants had such rotten luck with the tasting packs. I hope that courier company helps compensate – unless the packing was completely awful, there is little excuse for it.
I have really only begun my journey with Scotch whiskeys since I visited Scotland this summer. I have not tried any Islay whiskeys yet, but I do like peat, so I will have to soon.

I am jealous, in the best way, of your writing accomplishment this week. I didn’t get any done because I’m stuck in the world of editing. NaNoWriMo is around the corner and I’m a bit worried about getting off to it on a late start because of editing. Oh well, we shall see.
Have a great weekend, Trent.

After a couple of years of not being able to write very much, it is great to have the words flow out. I hope you feel you are caught up enough in your editing to be able to have a good NaNoWriMo. Part of my feels that I should have waited for NaNoWriMo to start digging into my book, but I had to start writing – it was ready to come out!
Have a great weekend.

TIL there are different spellings of whisky/whiskey! That is wonderfully nerdy :-)
Congrats on the writing productivity! I can hardly wait to get back to my fiction writing. I gripe about writing but I miss it when I don’t do it.
Have a great weekend!

TIL “TIL” lol. It is funny, Scotland is “y” while Ireland is “ey”. America is mostly “ey”, but Canada is “y”… My entire 5 minute speech was very, very nerdy ;)
Thanks! i have written very little fiction in the last year or two, so it is great to be getting off to such a great start. Artistic output is a strong need, even if we complain.
You too, have a great weekend!
