Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. It is gorgeous out there – blue sky, no wind, though a little cool. After the bitter cold we’ve had, being “a little cool” is actually great! It is pretty close to what it should be for this time of year, not 20 degrees too warm, or 20 degrees too cold like it has been. Where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
I drove down to The Cape on Tuesday evening. As the holiday was approaching, the traffic was a little worse for a Tuesday than usual, but not bad. I took The rest of the week off of work so I did not have to bring my work laptop.
In the last few days I ran, I exercised, I walked on the beach, I walked in the woods, walked to and from the two landings in my neighborhood, I walked dogs, I did some work around the house and I just relaxed. Here is a sunset from one of those landings on Thursday evening.

I mentioned it in my first paragraph, but this was a holiday week. I am sure there are few out there that didn’t realize that us Americans celebrated Thanksgiving on Thursday. Plymouth, where the semi-mythical first Thanksgiving took place, is just up the coast from where I am. On a clear day I can see it from Chapin Beach. I had a quiet holiday, as usual, but did talk to family. I’m allergic to turkey, but was able to make quite the feast without it.
If you missed my Weekly Smile on Monday, I did finish the first draft of my latest book, whose workign title is “No Working Title” ;) After finishing I did two quick passes and corrected some errors, filled in a few blank spots, etc. At this point I really like it. We’ll see what I think in three to six months when I pick it up again.
Well, that is about it. I need to get out and do stuff since it is such a beautiful day today. Thanks for stopping in! If you have a coffee share I will try to visit.
Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page (I can’t get to Natalie’s page now. I’ll update this later) or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!
Glad you had a great week, and that sunset is amazing!

Sounds like a wonderful week. What you got up to sounds like a holiday. The more I read about other people’s lives the more I realise i don’t get out into nature much. Or outside. The UK is so damp, lol! Your post motivates me to get out more. The photograph of the sunset is lovely. I didnt know people could be allergic to Turkey. How did you find that out? Lol. I am glad you still managed to feast without it though, and a belated happy thanksgiving to you.

I noticed that I was sick after every holiday (American definition as a special day, not British as what I call a vacation). As it got worse and worse, I looked at the common features and the turkey stuck out. I tried going without, and it fixed the issue.
Something about being on an island makes for a wet country… I’m sure you can get some outside time in without getting soaked to the bone. Maybe… lol. The fictional land in the book I just finished writing is based on Scotland and I have it raining at least a little on most days – want to be true to life. Anyway, I hope someone finds the humor in it ;)
Hope you are having a great weekend!

There are so many tasty Thanksgiving food options without turkey. Happy Thanksgiving.
Got to love working titles or titles for that matter. Congrats on finishing up your manuscript.

I spent a big chunk of my drive from Cape Cod to New Hampshire last night trying to think of a title. Still drawing a blank… lol.
Thanks! have a great week!

Titles are my nemesis. I find if I switch gears to a different book-related task something usually stumbles into my thoughts that gives me a starting point . . . Good luck, Trent. I can’t wait to hear what you decide.

I have written 4 books and 3 long novels (25K – 35K words) as serials on my blog, so had to come up with working titles early. Most of them I should have trashed the working title, but… lol Yeah, titles can be hard

My working title for the piece I just finished in rough is Torn. Do you know how my books carry that title? I was shocked. It will remain my working title and be updated once I feel crafty enough to do it. Haha.

lol. Go to working title? Hey, I just may have thought of a working title for my book! “The Rule of Threes”. Maybe? Hmmm… Not sure lol

I like it, “The Rule of Threes.” If nothing else, it’s a great place to start.

It’s a start. of course there are many meanings to that phrase, and I’m not sure how well it fits, but…

Thanks. Actually, the pier I was on when I took it often is lined with people fishing…. It is tidal, so salt water fish. It is a nice spot.
Hope you have a wonderful week :)

That is one gorgeous photo, Trent. Wow!
Happy belated Thanksgiving! Yes, how can one not know American Thanksgiving is on Thursday? After all, Black Friday follows.
BTW, you have a great collection of mugs for my strong black coffee. I think this is my fave.

When I bought my first place on Cape Cod a discount store down the road had Beatles mugs on sale. they didn’t have the entire collection, I broke one, but still have six. This is my favorite. The White Album is boring as a coffee mug. Sgt. Peppers is pretty cool, but doesn’t match the others.
Thanks! Sunset over water is always pretty.
Black Friday – the reason I try to stay as far away from civilization as possible the day after Thanksgiving.
I hope you are having a great weekend!

Hey Trent,
The biting cold has to be the one penalty for living in New England but I would welcome a few such days if it meant we could have some wet-stuff-from-the-sky. We are getting next to none and I’m still watering my trees post thanksgiving.
Congrats on the milestone for ‘No Working Title’.
Hey, have you ever done a post or essay on how you publish?
You seem to have a workable system and if you’re willing to share, I’d love to read and study it.
I’m getting closer both to retirement and perhaps to taking on the challenge of getting my work into print.
Hope you’re having a great holiday season. From what I read, it sounds like you are.

It is odd – I think we broke record high temps and record low temps within a two week time frame! I am glad those frigid days are by us and hopefully won’t return until they are supposed to be here, like January. We did get some rain, but mostly when it was warmer (it rained all day yesterday – mid-50s). Hope your winter brings more water from the sky!
I have written about different steps in my work process with a lot of detail on editing. I am not sure if I ever did anything on using KDP (I publish through Amazon). I have been sitting on a book of short stories for over a year. Perhaps when I finally break down and publish it I will go through the steps. For a book of short stories, though, the formatting is the difficult part! I will have to do some posts on that.
I am thinking of retiring in about a year, but that is not in stone. I will most likely put much more effort into my music then, but possibly writing as well.
I hope your weekend is goign well. Have a wonderful week!
