Hi All! Happy new year! Anyway, last week was a very relaxing week. I spent most of it on Cape Cod (big surprise ;) ). I really didn’t do a lot, but…
I have written this already, but here are some of the things I did: despite the week beginning ultra-frigid, I ran three times, twice on the beach (running on the sand) and once in the hills of New Hampshire (a very hilly run – very different than Cape Cod!). I walked in the woods a few times on Cape Cod and in New Hampshire. I walked on the beach twice, not including the runs mentioned before. I exercised three times (dumbbell and body weight). I read. I played music (actually played – keyboards) and wrote a song. I listened to music including some new to me music. I played with and walked dogs and played with and cuddled cats. I talked to friends and family. I did not work! I did a lot of nothing.
What all of this adds up to was one of the most relaxing weeks I can remember. There were stresses, but I won’t even mention them here. To me, walking is very relaxing. Running is relaxing. Hmm, I guess even weight exercise is relaxing! As is reading and playing music.
So that is my smile for this week, a super relaxing week (a chill week) away from work.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.
My smile last week was spending cosy time with Dad, the DH and our furry girls nand also catching up with familia. It was a quiet, sweet new year. The DH made some barbecue and I wrote a recap post of my WOTY. Despite being on a break. :) so reason enough to smile.

Happy New Year Trent! This has been a crazy rainy weather here this winter and I’m outside every day with my horses trying to keep a dry spot for them in their stalls. I like to keep moving too. It’s nice to have some time away from work. I hope 2023 will be a great year for all. 🤩💖

Happy New year, Diana! This is a wet week, but I have to be out, and that isn’t just because of the dogs. I’m sure you appreciate having the horses to help keep you out and about. Have a wonderful year :)

It has been a very nice low-key set of holidays. I am so glad I don’t have to go back to work! I remember dreading the end of holidays because the work would be waiting for me.

I have to go back tomorrow – I am not looking forward to it! Perhaps next year…

Even when I liked my job — which I often did — I didn’t stop dreading going back to work until I didn’t have to go back to work. I took to retirement instantly. I LOVE not working. Even when we are broke, I never yearn for the good old days of working so many hours that my eyes were fuzzy from staring at a computer.

I can relate. I don’t hate my job, but there are times… and coming back from time off is the worst. As I said, maybe a year, year ad a half tops. I hope…

I love retirement. I’ve never been bored or lonely. I wish I weren’t getting so old, but the choice is get old or die young — and you don’t really get to choose.

Yep, growing old beats the alternative…

Good to hear you’ve enjoyed a relaxed week with a lot of exercise. My smile this week was a nice relaxed New Year’s party with friends, and that I was able to do a good run today.

A Happy New Year to you as well, Trent! Aww, you are so active. Can we say you are “very moving”? ;-) I started the new year as the so called “couch potato”. But you are so inspiring, and i will also have a walk today. Best wishes, Michael
