If We Were Having Coffee on the 7th of January, 2023 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. It is pretty cold out, but not frigid. We had a little wet, sloppy snow yesterday, so it is all frozen this morning. It will warm up a little during the day, so hopefully snow and ice removal will be easier. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire (NH).

I returned to NH from Cape Cod Sunday morning. The week started off great with runs and exercise, but went down hill – it was just so super busy and the weather was awful. So.. Well, today I will pick it back up again.

Work was, well, it was trying to cram four weeks of people having vacations into one week. Ugh. Enough said.

I played with my camera a little, taking mostly indoor photos with a lens I do not use enough. Here is Grace:

To be fair, here is Alexander:

I did some of my usual, like walks and such, but, as I said, little exercise after Monday. I did read a lot. I also wrote and recorded a new song. It is an upbeat instrumental named “The New Year’s Song” I’ll post the video at the bottom, or you can see yesterday’s post about it. Oh, the video is full of Scotland photos :)

Yeah, it was an odd week. Slow in some ways, but so busy I couldn’t think straight in others.

Anyway, I am going to take dogs for a walk and then look at more ice removal (I already did some so dogs could go out and pee without breaking their necks). I have a million things to do, mostly things I didn’t get done during the week.

Thanks for stopping in! If you have a coffee share, I will try to visit.

Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

Your pictures of Grace, especially the first one are magnificent, Trent . You are so talented – music, writing, photography. I love your song and the photos that go with it. And you have time to work? Do you have more hidden treasures inside of you?

The macro photos of your cats are lovely. Macro photography is one of those things that I can get completely obsessed with if I start photographing an object. Lovely! All the details makes the object come alive in a different way, compared to in a regular photo. I really enjoyed seeing those glimpses from your otherwise busy week. Enjoy your weekend!

I don’t do macro photography very often. I love the results, so I am not sure why I think of my camera as something to capture landscapes or wild animals. I should probably spend more time with it.
I hope you are having a great weekend and have a wonderful week ahead :)

Happy New Year! Nice to meet you through the Weekend Coffee Share. I’ve been trying to get out & walk my dog more than just around in the yard. We had to do the shoveling to make a potty spot because of the snow.

Happy New Year, Karen. I do have to take long walks, so if the weather is too bad and the dogs don’t feel like venturing beyond the yard, I go without the dogs. lol Fieryo will always go unless it is raining.

We are in West Bengal for a vacation. We were in Shantiniketan from 1st to 4th. On 6th we came to Sunderbans. Today we are going to Calcutta and will return home on the 13th.
I would love a cup of strong filter coffee. Here people drink tea. And coffee is the instant kind 😊 which is ok if there is no filter coffee. We are having a nice time and thank you for sharing.

Glad you are having a good winter vacation. I know a big portion of the world’s tea comes from India and surrounding countries, so I am not surprised it is preferred over coffee. Yeah, instant coffee is not the same…
Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation! Have a wonderful week.

Thanks. Grace was named after Grace Kelly and thinks she is far prettier than the movie star/princess… I don’t argue, but… lol. Hope you are having a great weekend :)

what is it about close-up photography?
I just love these views of common things like a cat’s face up so close that it’s almost like you never saw one before.
I toyed with, but quickly talked myself out of sharing close up shots of the dead woodpeckers. Beautiful birds, but the damage they did to my tree is so sad. We might sill loose some main branches.
…and those photos might have cost me some followers so it was best to pass on that idea.
bring on 2023. I’m ready for it.

Close ups on animals are great. That being said, yeah, I think you chose wisely not to post the woodpecker photos. You would not have lost me, but I can imagine you’d lose some followers for that – knowing you had to do it and seeing it is two different things.
I am semi-optimistic for 2023 and am ready for it as well :)

Thanks! I did post several others on Thursday. You can find them or I’ll drop a link.
I usually am pretty passive with photography over the winter, so I understand. Hope you do get back into it soon :)

Oh, nice! Now I follow your photo category too. :)
The season is definitely a very strong reason why I don’t take any photos at the moment, it’s simply not inspiring in the winter, and even if nature would allow me to take some interesting macros, it’s usually too windy for it in the winter. But I’m trying to find ways to take indoor macros now.

One thing about winter that I don’t take advantage of enough is the air and light (OK, two) – the low sun and crisp air often lends itself to sharp contrasts, even using light through the window. the light is also usually a little more golden since it is traveling through the atmosphere so much farther. But, I’m with you, I have a hard time convincing myself to pick up the camera.

Fiyero and Idina always complain when I post cat photos. They ask why their photos aren’t posted! Actually, I think I have posted the two of them more than the cats, but not to hear them! lol. You too, have a great weekend :)

Grace came in as “Gracie”, but we renamed her “Grace” after Grace Kelly since every one of our cats is named after Royalty – Grace says she doesn’t know who Grace Kelly is, but there is no way she is as beautiful ;) Alexander can be very intense, so, yes, watching intently. Still attempting to catch up :) Have a wonderful weekend!
