Hi All! If you didn’t notice, I did not put up a Smile last week. Why? Because I was traveling and off line. Where did I go? Why would I go anywhere during the messy, winter travel time? Glad you asked ;)
I went to Ohio to visit my family. My dad is turning 90 tomorrow, so we had a little early birthday party for him. For this celebration it was just family, but it was almost the entire family: my brother and two sisters made it as well as all of their grandchildren. There was also most (all?) of the great grand kids.

That is my dad reading. Yes, we are family of readers…

And my mom.
There were two events for the entire family (though a few difference in people). We had a big formal dinner at a restaurant and then a less formal “pizza party” at my parent’s house. Some of us went to the Virginia Kendall Ledges which are in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Saturday. There were also other long walks (we are an active family…). Sunday was a bit of a wash since it snowed all day. Most of the people left Sunday morning anyway. I stayed until Monday.
It was nice to see everyone. Most of us met in Scotland last summer, but a few weren’t able to make it, so I saw them for the first time in a couple of years. Everyone was doing well. And my parents, though older, are doing well.
That is my smile for the week, traveling to Ohio to visit family and for my dad’s 90th birthday party.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.
Trent – your parents seem to be in great health and have such softness – or I guess a kindness seems to show through and of course reading is in the family !

Hi Yvette. My parents are healthy, particularly for their age. Both are kind and giving people – very much my inspiration :) And, of course, everyone in my family is a reader…

My mom likes nothing better than to have all of the kids in the house and getting along (we do, but she reminds me of families that don’t…). Thanks, Rebecca!

Wow, 90 – that is a birthday to remember. Am glad the family gave him a party – he deserves it! As to my weekly smile – so happy to have our car keys back! (we left it on the counter of the car rental in Sacramento-CA)

He did deserve it. Travel in the snow and such wasn’t always great but if it was 100 times worse, it would have been 100% worth it be there :)
Glad you got your keys back! Always hate leaving things behind, but keys are awful.

What a gorgeous set of parents you have, Trent.
90! Wow!
Sending them good vibes and good health for a long, healthy, peaceful life.
Incredible reason to smile. I miss my Dad too. He will be turning 84 soon but looks like a handsome young 60 year old! lol
Here’s what made me smile as you already know:

Thanks, Natasha! I don’t see my parents very often, so it is nice to visit with them (I actually stayed at my sister’s house, but I don’t see her very often either…). It’s great that your dad is so healthy :) My dad is very active, but no longer quite like a 60 year old…
I did like your smile :) Thanks for stopping by.
