Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other beverage. It looks like it will be a beautiful day out there, if a little cool. I took a walk this morning and there is ice, but there is also plenty of sunshine. Where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.
The first half of the week was in New Hampshire taking care of dogs who want to be constantly outside. lol. Fiyero has become more and more demanding of long walks at a slow jogging pace, exploring new places when possible. When Idina is with us, she reigns him in a bit, but even she has wanted to be out for longer walks more often. Fiyero also doesn’t understand that I can’t take an hour long walk/jog when I am working!
The second half of the week was down on the Cape with the cats and no dogs. My time was my own, but I still walked when I wasn’t glued to my chair because of work.
This week I did my dumbbell exercises, walked a lot including a long walk in the woods and a walk on the beach (also many dog walks – see above ;) ), read, played music (keyboards), had massage, worked, played, etc. I did get out for a run on Friday. Wow, despite using the row machine and the jogs with Fiyero, I could tell I am out of practice! I turned back well short of my typical run. Now that we are hopefully past the worst of winter, I need to get back into the running routine.
Some of you may have also seen that we did a kick off of this year’s Dickens Challenge. You may not have seen that we changed to just ONE novella, not three. This year besides Yvette Prior, who cosponsored the challenge the last two years, Marsh Ingrao has joined us. Here is my opening post, Yvette’s post describing five novellas and Marsha’s opening post. Hope you can join us!
That is about it. It is a nice day and I am in a beautiful part of the country. It is the weekend after an awful work week. I am going to be outside as much as possible!
Thanks for stopping in! If you have a coffee share I will try to drop by and visit :)
Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

I can understand the dogs wanting to be outside and are you sue the worse of winter is behind us?
I hope so

The forecast is for warmer weather, but that doesn’t mean we won’t have more snow or cold. that being said, the worst of winter is almost always the three weeks or so around the end of January, early February. Even if we do get three feet of snow, it won’t last as long.
It also feels more springlike out there than I have ever felt in February. Everyone is talking about it. of course that will make those cold days feel worse, but they are limited… (I hope ;) ).
The dogs love cooler weather. By “cooler”, I mean less than 60 and above 0. Fiyero wanted to be out all during that -50F windchill! They are most active late fall to early spring and slow down as summer approaches. they hate 90 weather even more than I do!

thanks for sharing that about the weather –
and it does feel more spring like this month – hmmm
however, my daffodils are still not up – and I have seen them in january before – but they are slow growing this year

I may see daffodils in late March… if I am lucky. lo, yeah, one of the things about being in NH. A lot of years we still have January snow on the ground on the 1st of April.

Yes… and being from Buffalo, I knew gray skies and cold all through April and May

Trent, Sorry for the rough work week, but it does seem like you are focusing on the positive!

I do try to stay positive most of the time. Looking at the big picture, it wasn’t so bad.
Hope you had a good weekend and have a great week :)

I feel you about being out of practice with your exercise, even though recently I’ve been walking quite a bit. It’s still at a slow pace. I just signed up for a competition on the Challenges app to motivate myself to get moving more. I’m glad the dogs like walks more, even Idina. I seem to remember she wasn’t keen on walking when you first got her, right?

Idina is very weather dependent – she hates walking when it is warm at all so I may have talked about her not wanting to leave the yard a few times. She also sometimes spooks easy. It was nice to have her want to do a few longer walks in a day.
It is easy to get out of practice and can be hard to get moving again. I hope you are back to walking at your old pace soon.
Hope you have a great week :)

I may join your Dickens challenge. I always think I should read more classics, but I have a hard time getting motivated. This may be just the ticket.

I hope you can join us :) It is a bit easier this year with just a novella of your choosing – last year we did Bleak House, which was a major commitment! It might have driven you away from reading classics for life ;) (I enjoyed it, but it is super long and not always exciting)

It sounds like you are in better shape than most people, Trent. You had a busy week. I had a glitch with my Kindle – it didn’t want to download all of Dicken’s work. I hope to coax it into accepting at least one book at a time. Have a great week this week. Those dogs will keep you hopping.

I do try to stay in shape, particularly as I age.
Worst case scenario is that you could read the stories on your computer if they don’t download correctly.
Hope you are having a great weekend!

I found a free copy of just that novella at Amazon.

Sounds like a wonderful week. I usually like a light roast with just a touch of cream. I am planning to spend some time outside. I feel my soul needs it.

Sounds like Flyero wants to get in shape for spring :) I hope you’re enjoying the weekend and the work week next week is less awful. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.

If only the dogs could help you with the work load so you could all be outdoors more, lol. Hopefully warmer weather soon too lengthen your fun runs in the sun.

The dogs do keep my outside, which is good, but there are only so many hours in the day… lol. I should retire so I can spend more time with my pets, like the politicians who say they are retiring to spend more time with their families. Look at the forecast I should be able to get some good runs in sun this week :) Of course being out without them might upset the dogs, but… lol
Thanks for stopping in

Add me to the wild work week/month/year list. I don’t know if it’s really busier or if I just have less energy than I used to, but work is kicking my butt. I enjoy it, but there’s quite a lot of it.

It does seem like a lot of us are being hit. For me, I know that the extra work is not my imagination – there is more but with fewer resources. But I also know that part of it is me – I’m starting to burn out. For the most part I enjoy my work, but I have not been enjoying this year….
Oh well, I am in a beautiful place and enjoying the sun, so no worries :)

A wild work week seems to be a theme this time around. Thanks for the virtual coffee, Trent. I hope you get some solid outdoors time this weekend.

I’m not sure why, but it does seem everyone I talk to is expected to do three times the amount of work as usual this year… Thanks, just got back from a very long walk in the woods :)
Have a great weekend!

It feels likes we are all still playing catch-up in the COVID after-effects . . . We’ll get there. Have a great Sunday, Trent.

Part of it is making up for Covid, but where I work we never had a slow down – we stayed at 100% through the entire time. I have five major projects (just 2 people working them!) an things should get saner when they are. That being said, 90% of my recent stress has been totally unrelated to those projects…
