Hey, what are you doing here! Go away, you’re not wanted!
April Fools! 😁😜
Hello and Welcome! That has been my coffeeshare greeting since 2014!! And since 2014 I have offered you a virtual coffee when you showed up, and that is not changing today! So come on in and I’ll get you that super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, hot cocoa or other beverage. It is cool and raining out there. It is going to get pretty warm in the afternoon (around 65F/18C), but will stay wet. We had some spring weather this week (Thursday was cold), but, despite the photo at the top, no daffodils yet. Give it a week. Oh, thinking of that photo, some of you may realize that we are in New Hampshire this week.
Work. OK, enough of that subject.
For the most part, the week is a blur. I did the usual walks, dog walks, dog play, cat play, reading, writing and playing around with music. I have two music projects I am working on… I did get a bit of exercise in, but could have done more. I ran three times, so good to be getting in that routine again. We voted for town offices this week. At some point I may bring up the newest school board member, but not now (no, not me, but close).
That’s about it. I was going to complain about time, but understand that some of you out there have even less than me! Maybe next week I will find a way to squeeze in a little more that sounds fun ;)
Anyway, thanks for stopping by! Despite the rain I have a lot to do today. Since there is no “official” coffee share today, I may not visit you if you have a coffee share post this week.
Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. She is takign a well deserved week off of the coffee share, so no links today :)

Earlier this week I posted a song I did ages ago on YouTube. So far it has half the views as the next lowest and 1/8 the views of the highest (YouTube will tell you that the video has been up x Days and y Hours and here are how the other videos you recently posted performed in that time…) Anyway, so I am going to post it here ;) This was an experiment, not a full “song”, but I liked it – it has an interesting flavor. (note, it is 5-4, 4-4 and 3-4 times, and there are some simple polyrhythms.)
(Click here if you don’t see the video below)
the song was nice, Trent
and I had no idea that you have been doing coffee shares since 2014!
Of course you have – but did not realize it has been that long.
I thought about doing the coffee share this year – and almost started in january – but it never worked out. I still toy with the idea – hmmmm
anyhow, hope your week is off to a great start and love your humor with the april fool’s joke

Thanks, Yvette.
I stumbled on the “If We Were Having Coffee” very early in my blogging and joined the first “Blog Party” with it, before it became a weekly linkup. And, of course, I was there when it did become that linkup. Yeah, in November I will have blogging for 10 years and I think it has been almost exactly 9 years of coffee posts! Time flies.
The coffee share has changed, but it is still fun. Join in any time :)
Have a wonderful week!

Perhaps a little blog party…. Of course, a low key affair.

Yes! A blog party was what I was thinking

So, I have a big, round number birthday on Oct 31 – maybe I should have a joint virtual big-number birthday/10 year blog party. (My first blog post was 11/11/13)

Oh this could be fun!

I have no idea how I will combine those into a blog party, but it could be fun…

When I first clicked on the link it threw me out of WordPress but I managed to get it to play on the second attempt. I feel like a want to add a mischievous overlay mid-way of a coyote or desert rat running into the animation to try to find some shade. It does sound like the New Wave stuff my parents sometimes listen to, did you like Gary Oldman?

I’ve played around with ways to put up YouTube videos so everyone can see them and still occasionally have issues…. lol, I do need to put a coyote or something in there, don’t I? I’ll admit that I did the frames for the animation in less than an hour, so…
I can see how this can be New Wave. And, yes, I do like Gary Numan (Oldman is the actor ;) ). I listen to more jazz, prog rock and even classical than New Wave, but I do love that music :)

Lol, my Dad is called Gary so I can remember his first name, thinking about it wasn’t Oldman the guy in the Fifth Element, I love the aria the blue lady sings in that.

Yes, Gary Oldman was in the Fifth Element. I just looked up the “opera” scene – yeah, it is great, going from traditional to 23rd century alien. It has been ages since I saw that movie!
Gary Numan was not as big over here as in the UK, I discovered him by accident. Early New Wave here was The Talking Heads, who invented the term “New Wave” to differentiate themselves from punk. The techno-pop style of New Wave hit in the 80s after MTV made its debut – most of the bands that had videos ready to go were British Techno-pop/New Wave bands, so they got a lot of air play.

My Dad listens to all that music, soft cell, human league, queen, orchestral something.. i wondered how I knew the songs once and Mum said they were in the cd box in the car on our journeys to and from school.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD)… Another band that wasn’t big in the US that found by accident. I do still like the 80s music, but I don’t listen very often.
Quick question – thinking “orchestral”, did you hear the orchestrated art song, “Black Eyed Susan”, that I posted recently? Not 80s New Wave at all! ( the song I posted on YouTube yesterday was very 80s…)

The song makes me feel like something exciting is about to happen. 😄 Sounds like you had a good week.

lol, there is an element that purposefully makes it unsettling, so maybe that weird, restlessness comes across that way… It was a pretty good. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Haha! I was wondering if anyone was going to use April fools. Nice one!
Yes, rain … that’s why it’s called April showers. Just means beautiful summer days are around the corner. (Notice, I didn’t say sunny 🤪.)

I just couldn’t resist the bit of April Foolery ;)
As to rain, I discovered after moving here that the little nursery rhyme about April showers, May flowers and all of that is very, very mush New England – Yeah, we see some early spring flowers in March and April, but they seem to explode in May. So another month of bare trees and wet weather…
Hope you are having a great weekend.

😁 It was good.
Okay … I love this, especially the spring flowers exploding in May. That would make some beautiful photos!
I did, thanks. I hope you did, too.

Hi Trent, I also had a super busy week and it is also rainy here 💞

I hope you are relaxing this weekend despite the rain. It cleared up for the afternoon, but a nasty thunderstorm just passed through (the left overs of the storm that killed like 20 people yesterday…)
Have a wonderful week!
Oh, BTW, did you see that I did a quick post on The Chimes earlier this week? I know you recently posted about The Chimes on someone else’s blog.

Hi Trent, gosh, I didn’t know 20 people died – how awful 😞. I missed your The Chimes post. I’ll look for it, thanks 🌼

There was a major outbreak of tornadoes as a big system moved across the country, pretty much covering north to south as it moved east to west By the time it reached us (as I was writing my comment), it was pretty much dissipated, just a scattering of small, intense thunderstorms. We need them to prove that it is indeed spring on our side of the world…

Spring coming in like a lion and not the proverbial lamb.

It often does come in like a Lion! Spring is tornado season for large parts of the US.

BTW, I do read BBC every day and know they cover bad weather here, but I never know how far out that type of thing goes – I know I’m not the only American that reads BBC, so they may put more American news than if we didn’t.

Yes, I get my updates from BBC and Sky News

Thanks for the virtual coffee, Trent. Rain sounds nice. I had snow again this week. This lingering winter is bordering on ridiculous. But on the note of time, the weather is keeping me inside still so I’m writing and puzzling until the sun calls us out . . .

There was snow here last night, but it didn’t accumulate – a few miles up the road it did, but it was melted by mid-morning. And it did get warm for a while this afternoon!
I was able to get out a lot this afternoon, but spent the morning making music…
Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

Thanks for sharing the song, Trent! I find it very interesting, and think it has something from the New Wave era. I wish you a beautiful weekend! Best wishes, Michael

Thanks, Michael. The sounds might be slightly New Wave, and possibly the contrasting synth lines. Hope you are having a great weekend!
