The Weekly Smile for the 3rd of April, 2023 #weeklysmile

Hi All! I think I have been on repeat the last few weeks. Perhaps it is because I have been so busy that there are few things that jump out. Maybe. But here are a few things that made me smile this week.

On my Saturday Coffee Share I mentioned that the daffodils are not blooming yet but should be in a week. Well, some of our daffodils began blooming on Sunday! The crocuses are almost gone, but the daffodils have arrived!

Yesterday I put all of my heavier winter coats away. I also put most of my heaviest wool sweaters away and about half of my turtlenecks (I wear a turtleneck almost every day from late October until the start of April). And my super heavy “boot socks” and the lighter ski socks went into the cedar chest. About 3/4 of my spring and summer shirts came out, though the strictly summer-wear stayed packed.

I wrote and recorded a quick song on Saturday and posted on YouTube yesterday. In less than a day it has received about the number of views that my most popular videos get in a two weeks. I’ll do a blog post on it tomorrow.

We had temperatures in the 60s F (close to 18C) on Saturday. OK, it was cold and wet for most of the day and the day ended with a nasty thunderstorm, but those few hours in the afternoon were great!

Much to everyone’s relief, one of my projects made a major milestone on Friday (it needed to be done before April…). Only six other projects that have looming deadlines….

I did my weekly long walk/jog with Fiyero – he has been loving these explorations! And on Saturday even Idina did a longer walk than usual, going over a good sized hill.

Met with friends for a bit of spring socializing.

I’m almost back to my running routine, with three runs a week for the last two weeks.

Etc., etc., etc….

So, yeah, most of these have to do with spring and the nicer spring weather, though with some music thrown in. So I will say that my smile for the week was all of those early spring activities.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).  Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.

Trent even though you have been keeping busy, those are a whole bunch of reasons to smile about. I’m a turtle neck person too and have them on as long as it’s cold. Even i managed to put away my winter wardrobe over the weekend and get out the spring, summer clothes. It’s quite a chore, but once done feels so relaxing. :)

The music being a hit on youtube sounds so very swell. Look forward to listening.

The runs sound fun too. I joined a gym in march and have been strength training – feels fab after doing mostly yoga and walks for the last few years.

    Have a great Easter!

Thanks! Sounds like you are switching to spring mode at about the same time I am :) I did leave a lot of winter clothes out, but looking at the forecast, I may finish the job this weekend…
My strength training has been almost on hold for a week – I hope to get back in soon (mostly time). I do think strength training is very important – I had relied on running etc for years and was surprised at how much a difference a bit of dumbbell exercises made.
I did see your post, but admit I did not go all of the way through the actual letters, mostly just you talking about them. I’ll try to stop back in later :)
      Have a wonderful weekend!

Yes, strength training does make a world of difference. As we start ageing we start losing muscle mass, and it helps keep it restored as well. Though I choose to believe I’m as young as ever. :))

No worries, on reading the entire post. Only if you can.

Hope you are having a good Good Friday! Happy Easter too.

Hi Trent, Being May-born, I’m a Spring person (two of three sons born in May too…) A Brit retired in Spain, we’ve had sunshine for two weeks now ! Heard my first wood pigeon, first blackbird and saw first wagtail this year – all reasons to smile this week! All the best to you. Cheers! (https://joylennick.wordpress.com/

I think I knew you were a fall person – and so is Dawn Miller – and for me? I am not sure what season I am anymore?
It used to always be summer – even though hot – but now might be spring

Most of mine are still waiting, but we have a section of yard that has warm light from early morning until late afternoon, so I guess it was just right for those first few :) I know I’ll see a lot more as the week goes on, and I’m sure you will as well :)

Maybe… Actually, i was just talking about a virtual Blog Party in early November this year for my blog’s 10th year anniversary. Maybe I should combine them and have a combined (huge round number)th birthday party and 10 year blog party.

So much to smile about. March was busy with the Slice of Life Challenge hosted by Two Writing Teachers. We have to write a slice of our lives every day, the whole month. I did, and enjoyed myself, writing and reading. That was something to smile about :).

Sounds like a pretty good week, despite being so busy. The transition between one season and another keeps us guessing. Here (NC), one day it’s short sleeves and the next day long with a sweater. But I’m not complaining. I’m loving the warm spring days that we are getting.

Hmm, I am having problems commenting on your blog. Anyway, sounds like you had a good blogging month. Glad you are getting your health issues in order.

yes, it was a pretty good week. Although we’ve had cold weather (it was below freezing last night and there was even some snow Friday into Saturday!), it is very typical early April here.
