Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other beverage. It is cool out there compared to the last few days, but spring jacket weather. It is a bit foggy and the air is full of mist. Still, it doesn’t feel bad and is very much a typical mid-April day. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.
I did mention the weather. It was a very nice week and grew to be down right hot on Thursday and Friday. Here on Cape Cod it wasn’t as bad, but it did reach 80 f/27 C yesterday. I ran by the beach on Thursday and the parking area was packed with cars, though the beach did not look crowded at all.
I had a few days in New Hampshire by myself. It’s not as if I did anything – I worked. I had to meet some people for Lions Club on Monday afternoon (same people as last Saturday, but more successful). We also had a full meeting on Tuesday evening. I drove to the Cape on Wednesday evening.
One big thing – I had a hair cut on Monday evening. Here is a before – you can’t tell how long it was in this photo! I have others that better show the length, but I hate my dimwitted expression in them ;) (Edit – 4/16, 9 AM – I put a before photo from 3/31 at bottom of post) It was super long…

Here is after. This is just after the haircut (notice the same shirt), so the hair is still doing odd things, but you get the idea.

Yes, the part changed sides. My hair stylist seems to change sides every time I go. At first, I just combed it back to how it was before, but the last few times I have gone with it. The after is actually back to the way I have parted it for more years than I care to admit.
Anyway, I ran a few times but my exercise routine was still a little off. I took a few long walks, even without the dogs. On Cape Cod, Idina wasn’t into walking, so…
I took a little time off of work on Friday and went kayaking. It was the first paddle of the year! I had a good time and saw osprey, hawks, an eagle, egrets, herons, ducks, swans, geese, etc.
And I did some work around both houses.
Even if it isn’t the greatest day ever, I plan on spending most of it outside :)
Thanks for visiting! If you have a coffee share I will try to drop by! Hope you have a great weekend!
Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

OK, here is a phot from 3/31 (almost two weeks before the hair cut) that does a little better showing the length. I hate the back-lighting!

The wonderful thing about Spring – when you can get outside again. I’ve been gardening. Sounds like a nice week!

It is wonderful to be able to get out again. I do stay active all winter, but spring does bring so much. And I’m sure last week was a wonderful time to get out in the garden – I have a ton of yard work to do this weekend.

I’ll have a hot chocolate. The weather is cooling down here. That was quite the chop! Much cooler for that warm weather you are having. I’m envious of your kayaking. Seriously considering it for my next “I’m bored, what now” hobby.

A hot chocolate coming right up… I haven’t seen you in a while – I hope you are doing well. Yeah, you are looking forward to winter (or what you call “winter ;) ), while we are starting to see some summer temperatures. They were talking about the possibility of a lot of records being broken.
I love kayaking. One good thing is that people of all abilities can enjoy it. I often put a lot of work into it that 90% of kayakers don’t, and then there are the people who are super out of shape who enjoy it. I know, you’ve run marathons, so you would be closer to my end of the scale. But even with me, there are days it is like running, and others that it is all about being in nature. Anyway, another skill to attempt to master ;)
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Your place in Cape Cod is a birder’s paradise! There’s nothing wrong with a goofy smile.

I went for a long walk yesterday and chose to leave my camera behind as it was so grey. I must have run into 50 people, every one of which had a camera with a giant lens…. Yep, birders all think it is paradise!
It wasn’t goofy smiles that bugged me about those other attempted selfies, it was, I don’t know… Anyway, I did see a couple that aren’t terrible and may use on on my weekly smile post.

From what you say, the birds must still stick around even with all of those giant camera eyes staring at them. They may even appreciate humans keeping the predators away.

I didn’t see any birds on that walk, so… lol, I think the birds on Cape Cod get used to all of the cameras.

OK, I added a photo from 3/31 t bottom of post – it does better at showing the length, but there is a strong back-lighting, so…

Kayaking sounds like a great way to kick off the start of Spring!

Yes, getting out on the water is a great way to celebrate the end of the cold weather :)
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

You look super handsome with your new haircut, Trent. Kayaking sounds fun. I prefer it to be super warm – like 90s-100s when I go out in the water or muggy! I’m showing my age or my upbringing, I’m not sure which. Have a great week. I hope your good weather holds. :)

Thanks, Marsha :) For a while I had a cottage on the water and I kayaked all year, even breaking the ice to get on the water. lol. A huge difference from 90s or 100s! Of course, it doesn’t get in the 100s very often around here – maybe one day a year. I paddle pretty hard, and have a hard time if it is too hot – I’ll swim or something else instead when it gets 90. I guess that is why I am in New England and not someplace like Arizona.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

LOL, Trent. I guess that’s why. It rarely gets to 100 here in Prescott. It gets into the 90s.

Great blog post! It sounds like you had a fun week with kayaking and seeing all sorts of wildlife. I love how you included before and after photos of your hair cut. I have a logical question about your blog post – what part of New Hampshire did you visit? I’ve been wanting to explore more of New England and was curious about your trip. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I don’t always do before and after photos, but when it is 6 or 7 months between haircuts… (My stylist was sick and I didn’t want to make her work if she wasn’t feeling well.)
I actually live in southern New Hampshire. We are about 20 miles west of Nashua. I have a house on Cape Cod (Dennis). Someday I will most likely move to Cape Cod full time. I have different photos for the two houses for the weekend coffee shares. Each week I will end the first paragraph by saying where I am, referring back to the photo.
There are a lot of great places to visit in New Hampshire. If I were just visiting, I would stay in the mountains, but the Portsmouth area is great for history.
Have a great weekend!

The haircut looks great, Trent. I always feel like a new person after a good haircut.
I’m excited to say that the weather forecast here is promising to be such that I can spend some time outside too. Happy weekend!

Thanks. In ways I don’t like getting a haircut, but in other ways it is nice. My stylist was sick and so I pushed the appointment back 6 months – it did feel good to both see her and have the haircut :)
I hope you have some good weather and can get outside this weekend!

Sounds fun, including the haircut!
27 is great weather i must say, we were blazing at 40 today. ^..^ And it will get worst! Living in a place with extreme climate has its perks and its downside too.
You have yourself a great weekend.
Cheerio.

I am cool weather person and like the low 20s. 40? Ouch, too hot for me! And it is only April… There are pluses and minus about every place – there were still large piles of snow around at the beginning of the week here, something I’m sure you don’t have to worry about.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Have a wonderful week.
