If We Were Having Coffee on the 29th of April, 2023 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other beverage. It looked nice out just a few minutes ago but has clouded over and is windy. Still, the rain is supposed to hold off until late tonight. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.

I drove down here on Sunday night. I don’t drive in as pounding rain often! Not totally awful, but…

This was a work week and ultra-busy again. We did meet a major milestone on one project, so some good, but I felt beat up all week. Enough work…

I didn’t do as much after work as I would have liked. I got a good run in on Monday, going by the beach. I had two very short paddles on the kayak and a long walk in the woods. I walked and played with dogs, took care of cats and did stuff around the house, but kind of struck out there – this house has a lot of issues we are taking care of but had a major hitch. In some ways this is a fixer-upper, which is why we could afford it.

I felt like I was constantly going, but have little to show for it. I know that is a fallout of spending eight hours a day sitting in back-to-back meetings with no breaks, but it is surprising how much it colors the entire day. I guess I did have some help from the unity of cat and dog, the Yin-Yang of canine and feline. Oh, that reminds me, here is a photo of Tiberius and Fiyero.

They are so cute together! I sometimes catch them playing. So funny :)

I was too stressed out this week to do anything very creative – my mind needed void when I wasn’t at work – but last weekend I made a recording. You might have seen it on my Smile. I’m going to put it at the end of the post, I just want to say a few words that I didn’t in my Smile. Warning, this is music nerd stuff ;) I was thinking of modal jazz, though different. If you need an example of modal jazz, listen to Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue album. Anyway, instead of a real chord progression, I just jammed on a scale. The scale I was is the Mixolydian/blues hybrid scale. It uses the notes from the Mixolydian mode and adds the notes from the Blues Pentatonic scale. Because of this it is neither what people call “major” nor is it “minor”. Anyway, it was music to feed dogs by…

That is about it. I hope to get out while the weather is nice.

Thanks for visiting! If you have a coffee share post I will try to stop by, though it will most likely be Sunday before I get a chance.

Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

I know the myth is about fighting like cats and dogs, but in my experience they usually get along very well. OK, I guess if they are exposed at an early age…. They are cute together :)

Yep, this was a well deserved weekend :) Despite the rain I was able to get out quite a bit. Hope you had a great weekend and have a wonderful week! It might be a couple of hours before I stop in and see how you’ve been.

Thanks! The cat and dog are great together (the other dog gets along with them, but I don’t see them cuddling like this). And thanks re: music :)

“My mind needed void” – oh, this resonates so much. I’m a total slug after work. The brain won’t function, the body won’t function… yeah.

Your animals are adorable! And good luck with the fixer-upper. Long-Suffering Husband and I have owned a few of those over the years. They’re fun but also exhausting and expensive.

We’ve had fixer uppers before, but this one seems to be wanting more fixing… We had several major issues this year. The next time I am down I’ll have to rip out a small 7 x 10 ceiling to allow access to a problem area – at least it is dry wall (1950s vintage) and not lathe and plaster, like the walls!
Up to a certain point doing other things helps for that after work fog, but this week I was past that point…
I hope you have a good week!

Oh, thinking of your L-S-H, a couple of weeks ago when you were actually living instead of blogging, I posted before and after pictures – nope, my hair is no longer on my back, so I’m not in that “men with hair as if it was the early 1970s” club any more.

Thanks. It is fun watching the dogs and cats interact – they do know we are one family, no matter the species.
Hope you are having a great weekend :)

Happy weekend! I know what you mean about work. Ugh, it has been stressful so like you say I try not to think about it. 🙃 We are so lucky to have our animals as they are such stress relievers and are so cute! Love the photo of the best buds, adorable ❤️ Haha, they sure bring smiles and I bet laughs sometimes too!! 🤩

Thanks, Diana. yep, animals can always bring a smile :) Tiberius is cute on his own – he is a year and half, but looks and acts like a kitten. Fiyero is the old man of the family, but still has his puppy side.
Hope your weekend is going well and that you have a wonderful week!
