Hello and Welcome! Come on in, or, it being so beautiful, sit in a chair in the back yard. I will get you a nice mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is nice! Warm, but not hot. A slight hint of a breeze, but pretty calm. The birds are singing. Ahhhh…. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
The first three days of the week were ultra busy with work. But then I took Thursday and Friday off…. I drove to the Cape on Wednesday night.
The reason I took time off was to do a project on the house. We have been having plumbing issues – there are two tiny (full) bathrooms on the second floor. There has been some water, and it was getting worse. I called in a plumber and he said I’d have to take down the ceiling before he could give me an estimate. Fair enough.
So, this was taken on Thursday morning:

Yep, I took the ceiling down. I took over an hour to clear, put tarps down, put thin plastic over the tarps, etc. And then I edged around the area to be removed, which was maybe a half an hour. Then less than a half an hour to actually rip it all down – the photo was taken at that time. Clean up? Yeah, many hours… Looking, the original ceiling was lath and plaster, then there was a new drop ceiling, which I guess was dry wall, then a third ceiling, which was drywall – the one I ripped out. It was all screws, so it was pretty simple to remove all of the screws, as opposed to taking out a hundred nails, one at a time….
Besides that, I mowed, did laundry, did a little other yard work, etc. yeah, so I took time off of work, but still worked!
I also did a long walk in the woods on Thursday and the longest paddle on the kayak so far this year on Friday. I did a few other walks, and did dog walks before I came here. I did a little exercise and running this week, but I am not back to my routine. I read. I played music – actually, when I wasn’t working or outside I was playing music. I was online as little as possible – being off pretty much all day Thursday and most of the day on Friday. And Wednesday was very minimal.
Anyway, there was more, of course, but the beautiful day is screaming at me to come join it – yes the windows are open and I hear the birds singing.
Thanks for stopping in! I am going to be off line most of the weekend, but I will try to visit as many weekend coffee shares as possible :)
Natalie the Explorer is the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkz-Linkup to see all of the other shares!

uggh. That plumbing job looks bad. Hope you get it sorted without too much more pain!

“Bad” might be a matter of perspective – there is a slight blockage that backs things up a little (no overflows) that can easily be fixed. When it gets backed up there is a leaky seal – it doesn’t leak until the water hits a certain level – that should be able to be fixed. i think… But if I replace all of that cast iron with PVC, a very big job… Thanks! Hope you have a good week.

Howdy, It always interests me when doing reno’s or repairs on older places how things were done by previous builders or owners. I hope the water prob is all fixed now. I hope you have many more great days screaming at ya in the week ahead.lol

It was interesting to see the history of that part of the house laid out – I could see at least 4 layers of work on it. Plumbing problem is not fixed – I have a few friends that think I should complete it, though it will be a huge amount of work. I’ll most likely have to get someone in to do it for me.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

I read that you took Thursday and Friday off and was going to give you a thumbs up. Then I kept reading. I should have put it together after seeing your Instagram post. Sorry again about the plumbing issues, those can be tough ones. Hope it is going smoothly.
Hope you have a great Sunday.

Thanks, Trent. Colds all around today, but at least I played in the garden yesterday. :)

“Colds all around” does not sound like fun! Glad you got some time in the garden in :)

Hi Trent, I saw this photograph on FB or Instagram, I can’t remember which. Removing a ceiling is a very dusty and dirty job. I admire you for doing it yourself.

It was a dirty job, though luckily not as dusty as I’d feared. I did some of this type of stuff many years ago, but now I will most likely hire out the construction part…

Looking at your cup we seem to be having a theme going, although the Fab Four are omnipresent

Although the band broke up over fifty years ago, they are still relevant today… Or at least for a lot of us. I have a small collection of Beatles mugs, but like the Rubber Soul one the best (not album, but the mug is perfect).

I haven’t been online much the past couple months — except just to throw up a quick post now and then, just so people would know I hadn’t died. But I was browsing this morning and caught this notification. So I wanted to at least hop over and see how things are going for you and say “Hi.” Sounds like you had a super busy week, but certainly worth all the effort if it gets your house more comfortable and enjoyable. I’m having my coffee as I write.

It is good to take some time away from computers and social media, even when a few days turns into a few months… Nice to see you here. Work has been so busy that doing house work was actually relaxing. Hope you are having a great weekend!

I have to compliment the mug, first! We are big Beatles fans over here. :) Oh, the joys of adulting! You take time off but you never get a break, ha. Thanks for sharing your week!

I have 5 of these Beatles mugs – I think this one makes the best mug while the White Album makes the worst…
Sometimes I get a bit tired of adulting, but then, there are rewards….
Hope you have a great weekend!
