The Weekly Smile for the 15th of May, 2023 #weeklysmile

Hi All! This has to be quick as I have been staring down over 300 email and hundreds of texts on Teams that are demanding my attention – yeah, one of those mornings. But there is a good reason for it :)

The reason I have a full inbox at work is that I took two days off of work! It was really nice and super relaxing, even though I did a lot of work around the house(s). For example, ripping out a ceiling:

But I also took two long paddles on my kayak, including the first super long paddle of the year. I had some walks int he woods both in New Hampshire and on Cape Cod. I played a lot of music (with my fingers, i.e., keyboard). I was able to get a good run in and exercised in that time.

It is odd, but the work around the house – yes even the ceiling work and clean up – was very relaxing! Oh well, back to the grind :)

That was my smile for the week, having a four day weekend and being able to do things that were not related to work and enjoy myself.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).  Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.

Do you find that the pace of work has picked up? We’ve noticed that in Singapore post-Covid had returned to craziness. And from friends, we hear that work is relentless once again, except with new challenges.

Did you do all the repairs in the Cape Cod House yourself?

When Covid hit, our level of work went up from steady to constant with no breaks. Sigh, I long for those days ;) It is totally insane now, I have at least 10 times more work now than I have ever had, I end each day feeling like I have been beat up by the heavyweight champion.
I have not been doing all of the repairs, but I will do as many as I easily can.

Acclimating to this post-C environment will take time … I’m wish more of the changes that came with the pandemic would persist though; so much of the consideration & civic mindedness seems to have just vanished
