Hi All! This was an odd week all around. Nothing bad happened, but it was what I call “one of those weeks…” Sure work isn’t necessarily bad, it is just unrelenting, so I feel I can’t pause for a breath. I know, I am complaining, though I don’t mean to – as I said, right now it isn’t anything bad, like it was in the not too distant past, it is just that I’ve been too tired to do a lot. But I did do a few smile worthy things :)
So, yes, this is another “Its’ the Small Things” post.
Over the last week I joined two gathering of friends, just because. You know, sitting around, chatting, etc. for a few hours. Always nice. The second included a couple I haven’t seen in almost a year.
Besides that, there were several informal gatherings – like neighbors meeting up and standing around chatting. It is that time of year when everyone is out and about, and chance meetings happen all of the time.
I did a few nice runs into the hills and had a couple of very long walks. Always good to get out!
I did a little writing – I have been awful with writing lately, so this was nice. I also did a little more reading than I have over the last few weeks. Actually, that’s a half truth – I should say “reading things I’ve never read before.” When I am tired and stressed I often skim things I know well, sort of comfort food for the mind. I did a little of that, but also read a book that has been on my TBR pile for a while.
I played my musical instruments a lot. That is one of the greatest stress relievers ever! I made two recordings.
Lots of other things. Even mowing was a good escape from the computer. I had massage, which is always nice. I had a few phone conversations. etc.
(Staying away from the computer and even the phone (I hate cell phones 90% of the time, but am glad I have one when needed) is a big theme for my smiles, as usual.)
In other words, nothing big this week, but the small things all added up.
This week my smile was a lot of small things.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Note – I am no longer compiling the smiles into a weekly post as I used to – Sorry, I do not have time.

The joy of bumping in a friend/neighbour, and catching up – nice. Glad you were able to have lots of time away from the phone & computer.

Bumping into friends and catching up is always nice and worthy of a big smile.

It’s the little things that makes our life worth while. I especially like chatting with neighbours this time of the year, even if it’s just for s a few minutes it brings a sense of belonging. I used to hate that sort of small talk, but now I don’t…I wonder if that means I’m growing old? :) Thank you for sharing your smiles :)

lol, I hope it is not a sign of growing old… I’ve always hated that type of small talk, but I now do enjoy just chatting. Of course, it depends on the neighbor – there are some that we quickly devolve into super deep conversations, so… Hope you have a great week! :)

The little things count a lot!
Great that they added up for you this week, Trent.
Me? Well, I’m still smiling from a couple weeks ago.
One of my Art Gowns got worn to a Red Carpet Gala in NYC.
Finally!!!
Also, I’m seeing a small bit of light at the end of the tunnel with Charlotte’s gown.
Now, to take care of 500″ of circular hem!
Then… the light will be bigger!

Cool that the art gowns are getting a little visibility! Any photos?
I’m glad you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with Charlotte’s gown. I’m sure we’ll all get to see here model it :) I love some of the costumes and such she wears on her blog – that whole video of the different visions of Alice was great. And I am sure your art gown will be as well, with all of its 500″ of circular hem!

Yes, I have photos.
The gown that went to The Explorers Club Gala in NYC will be my next post on Art Gowns.
I’ve got a book review I’m working on for my GLAM blog. Once that’s done, I’m onto the gown post. I’m so excited, I’ve already started it.
Charlotte has been waiting patiently while I sew everything by hand. It’s been slow. She sent me pro measurements and I’ve been very careful designing things in a way that alterations can be made easily.
OKAY! I’m off to work on that hem!

HI Trent, this past week sounds better. Relentlessness is what I was referring to in my last comment, it really wears you down.

Yes, relentless – that is exactly what it has been. Hope you had a god weekend and a good week that isn’t relentless :)
