Weekly Smile 38 #weeklysmile

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Wednesday already?  Busy, busy, busy, I just can’t keep up with the week.  On the good side of that, a very large, high profile project I’ve been working on came to an end on Monday.  It was a busy morning of coordination, email messages and hasty phone calls.  But it is done.  OK, it’s not really “done”, in fact, it has now officially started, but my part of it is for the most part at an end.  Yeah, it is still there under my groups care, but the part that took my time and effort is done.

After it was all done, a lot of the people on the wrap up phone call were almost giddy.  It had been a long, hard slog and we did it.  Now it’s in operations.  I was pretty much a bit player, but a very important bit player.  I’m sure the people in charge of it all are even happier than I am ;)

So that was my smile for the week, finishing a monster project.

What made you smile this week?

If you haven’t seen it, here is a little background to The Weekly Smile as well as some quick guidelines.

So, what made you smile this week? Write about it and post on the link-up (or click the little blue frog below). While you’re there, read what everyone else is smiling about! And come back to it later, if last week is any indication new smiles will be added daily!

Note – the weekly smile runs Wednesday Morning to Wednesday morning.  I post in the morning (Eastern US) and put up the link usually between 7 and 8 AM EST.  I also try to post on Sunday as a reminder.  People can and do join throughout the week.

Throwback Thursday Link Party @ Part-Time Monster’s Blog

Idea Tree

I decided to join the Throwback Thursday Link Party hosted by Part-Time Monster, Adventures of a Jayhawk Mommy  and  The Qwiet Muse   again.  The idea is to put up a link to a post that is at least 30 days old.  I have taken it a little more literally.  The last two times I linked to posts that were exactly a year old.  This time I went back two years.

My post was called “How Did You Every Think of That?”  Have you ever imagined that you are a famous author and an interviewer asks that age old question about your current work?  I find that it is a great exercise, to actually think of were all of the elements came from.  You see, most stories, and blog posts for that matter, leap into my head unbidden, forming themselves whole and complete, kind of like Athena from the head of Zeus.  But how did they actually get there?  It isn’t foolproof, but sometimes thinking about how I came up with the idea for a story, poem, blog post or other piece of writing helps me create a new one.

Darn, I just told you the important take away from that two year old post!  Oh well, go back and read it anyway!  And go to Diane’s Link Party and read other people’s blog memories!  (Click here for Link-Up)

Throwback Thursday Link Part @ Part-time Monster!

Loons

Diana over at Part-time Monster is having a Throwback Thursday Link Party!  I know, it’s Friday, but hey! I post Friday Fictioneers on Thursday, so why not Throwback Thursday on Friday?  The idea is to join the link-up with a post that is at least 30 days old.  Oh, read the original for more details.  Anyway, I went back exactly a year from Thursday.  What is weird is that my “blog memory” was a post where i was remembering a time that I was revisiting (remembering) my childhood.  So, is the link a memory of a memory of a memory?  You decide!

Here is the link-up.  Go read everyone else’s “blog memories!”

The Weekly Smile Week 2 #weeklysmile

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Hi all and welcome to the second week of The Weekly Smile!  There was a lot to smile about this last week.  I had some good conversations with family members and there were a few birthdays in that area.  In general things went well.  But I have 2 1/2 smiles for this week.

The first is The Weekly Smile itself.  It did much better than I expected.  We had 19 entries!  And there was a lot of going back and forth between people.  That is where it all happens – thinking positive thoughts and writing a post is a good start, but the sharing is where it turns into a great event.  You cane see last week’s smiles here. Weekly Smile 1- #weeklysmile startup!

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Hello and welcome to the first Weekly Smile!  I have 2 Smiles for the week.

My first Smile is for the New Year, for new hope and dreams.  2015 was actually very good for me and I’m optimistic that 2016 will be even better!

My second is Smile is about the “Weekly Smile” kick off.  Sure, there might not be hundreds of people joining, but I will count it a great success if even a handful do.  I’m really looking forward to opening this up to the world at large and seeing what everyone has to smile about!  I’m sure our impact will be small, but, as fractal theory says, a fly’s wings in the Amazon can effect rice production in China – the tiniest movement can have large outcomes.  Even if not, it is worthy to smile, even if just for our own sake.

And what are you smiling about this week?  Did you have some good news?  See a beautiful picture?  See an act of kindness?  Tell us about it!

Join us on the inLinkz linky below!  There are few guidelines, but if you follow “keep it positive!” you’ll do OK.  The graphic at the top can be used by anyone for this event.  Note – I changed the graphic a little today so it isn’t cut off by inLinkz.  Use the new one if you want it to display correctly in the linky.

I hope you have a Smile to share!

(The Link is open for a week.  Although it starts Wednesday, you can add at any time!  There will be a new one next week)

Weekly Smile – Countdown!

Rough Draft of #WeeklySmile graphic

Rough Draft of #WeeklySmile graphic

As many of you know tomorrow will start my Weekly Smile!  This is a share, blog hop, event or whatever you want to call it.  What I mean is that I’d like to have all of you to participate.

There is so much negativity in the world.  This little weekly event is just to act as a tiny counterbalance.  Simply write about what made you smile over the last week be it a word from a friend, a news story, a smile from a child, a wag from a dog, a beautiful picture, anything.  Just keep it positive and not hateful! If We Were Having Coffee – 1/17/2015

Coffee

Hello and welcome! I’ll get you a mug of a very strong French Roast, though we have tea, Hot Cocoa and other warm, nonalcoholic beverages available.  From the picture you may realize I’m on Cape Cod this fine Saturday morning. Thinking of pictures, Prior from Prior House blog made me a great virtual coffee cup for my Cape Cod excursions.

Since this is a travel mug I’ll use it for those Saturdays I’m traveling between NH and the Cape, both going and coming. Continue reading
