Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of super strong dark roast,a cuppa tea or a hot cocoa. It is a little chilly out there and it looks and feels like rain. It is beginning to look like October out there, with many of leaves finally turning golden. It should look like Autumn soon! Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
The big thing this week is work. Not much to say, but it ate up all of my time and energy. I have had much worse weeks, but this was super busy.
I did almost no blogging. I posted my typical Smile on Monday, and nothing else. I did not read any blogs because I had no time.
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage. It is a little chilly out there, but I think almost as warm as it ever got yesterday. I just got back from a long walk, and have to report that it is still as windy as yesterday! But today will be relatively warm and sunny, a perfect early autumn day. I plan on spending every free moment outside, though it is too windy to kayak. Oh, where am I? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
I drove down to Cape Cod on Wednesday night, as I often do. I worked Thursday and Friday, which I can do from here. Thursday was rainy and I didn’t feel well, so it was a wash. Friday I felt much better and the weather was nice, if cold and super windy, but my work day was pretty insane. I did get a chance to exercise after work and took a few long walks in my neighborhood, but I did not get away from the house.
As stated above, this was a typical work week. I was able to exercise a few times and got out for a couple of runs. I had massage on Wednesday. I walked the dogs often while in New Hampshire (only the cats are with me on Cape Cod). Typical week.
Last week I said I had a surprise. OK, I need a little background.
Some of you know I write and play music, but you may not know that in the first decade of the century I was deeply involved in composing “contemporary series music”, that is, modern classical. Back in 2015 I released a CD for my Hamlet Symphony. I had planned on putting out other music from this time period to close it out, but I never did.
I just released a (download only) CD of piano music. It has two piano sonatas and 24 Preludes, one in each key. Yeah, that is 32 tracks and about 90 minutes of music, but since it isn’t a physical CD, it can be done. I don’t have links, but if you search Spotify or Amazon or other places… Yeah, I will try to get some good links for you.
After I put out the CD, I also put up a recent instrumental pop song, For Her Heartbreak, as a downloadable single. I felt that this was the best fit of my recent music with the classical piano music from a decade back, a good transition. Again, no links, but you can search Spotify or whatever to find it. Oh, if you didn’t see the video back in the winter, here it is again.
(Click here if you are interested but don’t see the video below)
I plan on making pages on the blog for these releases soon. And hopefully I’ll get good links without having to pay…
Anyway, that was my week. As I said, I have a need to get outside and soak in some sun and nature.
Thanks for stopping in! If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by for a virtual drink. Hope you have a great weekend!
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, a hot cocoa or some other beverage. It is pretty chilly out there, but it will warm up a little today and we’ll have pleasant afternoon. Perfect early autumn weather, though the official start of autumn is still a few days away. It does feel like mid-October instead of mid-September, but not complaining! Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
It is one of those weeks that I look back, scratch my head, and say, “What in the world did I do?” Hmmm. Well, I’ll make a stab at it…
I drove back from Cape Cod Saturday evening. I had been down there for over a week. It was good to be back. Sort of. In ways it is difficult to split time and energy between the two places, particularly as we get closer to a time when the place on Cape Cod will be the primary home and NH a get away. That time might not be far off…
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I will get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage. It is a gorgeous day out there! (I hope you get that that means I have to be short here ;) ). Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.
If you joined me last week, you know that I was one Cape Cod then as well. Did I go back to New Hampshire and return so soon? No, I have been down here for over a week. Not just that, I took some time off of work. I had Monday already, so I took the rest of the week. For years this was the week my parents came to visit, but I just saw them in Scotland, so… Anyway, I decided to take the week anyway.
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage. It is bright and sunny, not a bit of a breeze, yet slightly chilly. After this summer, I’ll take the cool! I have been out a couple of times, first taking the dogs for a walk down to the landing and then a run down to and along the beach. It was a little shorter than usual (maybe 4 miles as opposed to between 4 1/2 and 5) since my running routine has been so off lately. Hopefully that will change! Oh, where are we? Besides the hints I just gave, some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or come other beverage. It is cool out, but not as cool as would be expected – it still feels like a summer morning with autumn a distant dream. And where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
An odd week over all. I returned from a long weekend on Cape Cod on Sunday (if you saw my Smile post you know I spent that long weekend with my wife’s family). Work was just insane this week. It wasn’t super hot nor as humid as I’ve seen, but I had a hard time getting motivated to exercise. We also had some rain on three different days (yeah!!! the ground was browner than I have ever seen it), which made outdoor activity difficult. So just odd.
So, what did I do?
Well, some dog walks, though they weren’t into it as much as usual (heat? Humidity?). I did do some exercise, but only ran on Sunday (I will run today). I did a few chores around the house. Met with neighbors, including the little “Men of Wilton Monday Beer Meeting” on Monday. On Tuesday our Lions Club had a dinner at someone’s house. Usually these summer meetings are very short, but they stretched it for hours and I didn’t get to bed until after 11, which makes my 5 AM wake-up difficult…
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is relatively cool this morning but will get up to warmer, though not really very hot (for here in mid-August), temperatures later in the day. I guess it was very hot for a few weeks, so everyone is relieved by the cool temps. I was away, but I’ll get to that later. And if I am not away now, then where am I? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
I got back into the country Monday evening. I had been gone about 10 days, leaving Friday July 31 pretty late. Actually really late – we had a late flight to begin with and it was delayed for 3 hours, so we might not have left the ground until August 1. And then the flight back was delayed 4 1/2 hours. So, yeah… And where was I? Here is a hint. I tell you later.
Going back to work after 10 days was, well, it was not fun, but the week is over (I had 7 1/2 days off).
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage. Something cold? i don’t blame you. I just got back from a dog walk, and it is starting to get warm, even if the backyard still feels cool. So green! Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
Of course the first thing to talk about is weather. Always the case, isn’t it? It was hot all week and will be hot all weekend. It was over 90f/32c every day this last week, hitting 98f/37C one day. It will reach 98 again tomorrow. The big thing is that a few days were super humid, so “real feel” was closer to 105f/41c a few days and will be again on Sunday. OK, some of you are laughing at me for calling 7 days above 90f a “heat wave”, but it is here in New Hampshire. We do not have A/C. We have had more days above 90 so far this year than there were the first three years I lived in New Hampshire combined. On the good side, the nights have been cooler than they could have been, so I have been able to manipulate windows so the inside isn’t too bad (one night it was still over 90 at 10PM, so that night the windows stayed shut…).
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll grab you a large mug of a very strong dark roast. a cuppa tea or some other beverage, perhaps soemthign cool. It is not too warm yet, but not cool either. It will get pretty warm and humid so will feel hot later. I ran at 6:30 this morning to beat the heat. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo as being from Cape Cod.
I drove down here on Wednesday evening. I worked all week, so the two days I was here was working. I did get a kayak paddle in Thursday after work and went to the beach on Friday. Today I will need to mow, perhaps hit the beach, maybe kayak again and will try to walk in the woods. A little vacation in one day!
For the most part it was a typical week. There was a lot of walking, with and without dogs, weight exercise, a little running, massage, reading, etc. Nothing too exciting. The weather has been nice.
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is a gorgeous day, about as perfect as you’d wish for. It is warm but not hot. A nice breeze. Perfect. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
Thinking of photos, I did make it through all of those photos I was talking about last week. Here are posts where I put some of the photos:
