If We Were Having Coffee on the Third of April, 2021 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and sit down. It is a bit chilly, but it is sunny and there is no breeze. It will warm up to spring temperatures as the day goes on, so hopefully you can deal with this cold start. At least you weren’t here yesterday – it never got above freezing, and with the super moist air and strong winds, brrrrr!! Anyway, I will get you a large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. Were are we? Some may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.

So the word for the week is “work”. It was a super busy week. My team had a handful of big projects, but I was thrown into something else that was, well, not really mine. I hope we came to a good conclusion on Friday! But, yeah, I was super busy. One thing with that is that I did not blog very much this week and I don’t think I read a single post Thursday or Friday.

The dogs were on Cape Cod for most of the week, so I have only had a little dog play time and handful of dog walks. I did my typical walks every day, but not many on Thursday – it rained most of the day and hovered just above freezing. I did run Sunday and Tuesday, but it has been too wet and cold since then! I did my weight/strength exercises on Monday and Wednesday but was too busy after that. So, yeah, I have been lazy the last two days ;) OK, I have been straight out working, and it has been bitter cold!

Besides work, I also played around with my keyboards and did a little piano practice this week. I didn’t do any real writing, but I have been going through short stories. No drawing, painting or photography this week.

Since I have been pretty boring this week, and since there are new coffee share people these days, I will do a brief intro.

If We Were Having Coffee on the 27th of March, 2021 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and sit down. Doesn’t the spring sun feel great? It will be warmish today, though a spring jacket may be required. A little breeze, but not much. Here, I’ll get you a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some cocoa. Where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo as being from Cape Cod.

I drove down here Wednesday evening, which some of you may know is pretty typical. I really didn’t get very far from the house in the last few days, since I was teleworking. This morning, though, I went to my favorite beach, Chapin Beach, and took a very long walk. It was great! And Thursday’s run took me down the access road next to West Dennis Beach, so about 2 miles of my run was beside the beach. Then there were many walks to the landings and that type of thing. It was great!

Besides the above, I read, I exercised, I worked, I had massage, I walked and played with dogs, I did a drawing for our Lions Club, I did a Zoom Lions Club meeting, and I did all of those other things I normally do.

If We Were Having Coffee on the First of Spring (March 20), 2021 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and sit down and I’ll get you a large mug of strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. It is a bit cool right now – last night was pretty cold, the coldest it will get in the foreseeable future! – but it is warming up and will be typical early spring in New Hampshire warm soon. It is sunny and there is little wind. I started writing this exactly 3 hours after the equinox, so happy Spring three hours ago! Where are we? If you didn’t notice that I already told you and you do not recognize the photo at the top, we are in New Hampshire today. (Photo is last year, but it looks like that today.)

This was an odd week. The weekend was nice, but it turned down right frigid on Monday. And with the time change, I was as worthless Monday as I can remember. It was a hard work day, but I did little else. It slowly warmed up as the week went on, so that was good.

If We Were Having Coffee on the 13th of March, 2021 #weekendcoffeeshare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and sit down. It’s still a little chilly, but we are out of the wind here and it is sunny, so pleasant. I’ll get you a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or a hot cocoa. The wind is nasty, but it’s a beautiful day! Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.

I drove down Wednesday night, as typical. I got early, showered had breakfast and wanted to go watch the sun rise, but decided to start my work day first. Well, I do wish I had gotten to the landing 15 minutes earlier, but it was still gorgeous! This is over what is called the Grand Cove.

After work I went for a long walk in the woods and then went down for a walk on the beach. At the end of the walk I took a photo of the setting sun, to go along with that morning’s rising sun.

Friday was even nicer that Thursday – a beautiful spring day! I did a few short walks during the day when work would let me, then a long run after work. I did my typical Cape run, which goes from my house, down to West Dennis Beach, and then along the beach (on a road/parking area) for about a mile and a half (about 2 km), then back. It’s a great run. After showering, I spent about 45 minutes at the two landings near my house and took this sunset photo over the Bass River.

It was a great evening!

I attempted a walk on my favorite beach this morning, but… First, I was turned back by a huge dune across the road with a truck stuck halfway over it! I went to another beach, climbed over the 6 foot/2 m tall dune that had grown over night, and out to the water. It was windy. Uhm, that word does not do it justice. I have been out during a hurricane, and it was windier today. No early morning beach walk ;)

So, I have often said that I have “Covid-long hair”. What do I mean by that? Not a good picture (phone selfies are rarely good for anyone because of the massive distortion), and you can’t see how far down my back it goes, but…

Anyway, are you looking a bit different because of Covid?

Before I came down, I went through some old photos so I could clear the memory card. I like this one from the full moon we had a couple of weeks (or so) ago.

That’s about it for my week. I did write a lot but blog little (for me), I exercised and ran, I had massage, I did dog play the first half of the week and all of the typical.

And I plan to get out as much as possible today! Yeah, I can easily avoid the wind – I just won’t try Chapin Beach again!

Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share, I will try to visit, but no promises – I plan on being outside all day, and I have to drive back to New Hampshire.

Natalie the Explorer is now the host of the weekend coffee share and she is doing a wonderful job. Stop in at this week’s main share page or go to the InLinkzlinkup to see all of the other shares!

If We Were Having Coffee on the 6th of March, 2021 #weekendcoffeechare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a large, steaming mug of super-strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some hot hot cocoa. As you may be able to tell from my description of the beverages available, it is cold! But it is sunny, and sitting behind the house we are blocked from the worst of the wind, so it shouldn’t be too bad. Where are we? Some may recognize that photo as being from New Hampshire. And, yes, there is still snow where it was taken, though a lot of the snow is gone.

First up is weather. The beginning of the week actually was pretty warm, and then came Tuesday. It got down to about 5F/-15C and the high was about 15F/-9C. Cold, but the worst was the 30 mph/48 kph sustained winds. I have been out when it is far below zero F and felt great, but when it is windy like this? Unless you are dressed for Mt. Everest, you will be cold. Wednesday was actually pretty nice. But then the north wind continued to blow, and it hasn’t been above freezing since Wednesday afternoon, plus the wind has been strong, up in the 20s mph. Sunny, but brrrr… Of course, tomorrow will be the last day of cold, then it will be in the 60s F (over 15 C) by Wednesday. Yeah, crazy. Remember, in New Hampshire winter is never over until April. We get a major snow storm almost every March, and there have been years with more snow in March and April than the rest of the winter combined! So even though we may see mild weather this week, it is not over!

If We Were Havign Coffee on the 27th of February, 2021 #weekendcoffeechare

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or a hot cocoa. He can sit here at the table until it starts to rain, in which case we’ll pull it onto the covered patio area by the barn. It is warmish and feels nice, though it is supposed to rain most of the day. Where are we? Some may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.

If We Were Having Coffee on the 20th of February, 2021 #WeekendCoffeeShare

Hello and Welcome! Here, I will shovel off dust off a spot for you at the picnic table. It is nice and sunny, if not too warm. I did see flakes in the air just a few minutes ago, but I think we are done. It is actually supposed to get above freezing today! Anyway, I will go get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. Isn’t the back yard with the new fallen snow pretty? You can imagine we are a million miles from civilization even though we are in the middle of the village. Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize that once again we are in New Hampshire. Yes, I will be returning to Cape Cod eventually! Just an odd winter…

We do not have quite the weather news that some parts of the country have! The “big one” was mostly rain and slush here. It still left us with quite a bit of snow, but the snow was the consistency of a ceramic after it all refroze. It snowed all day yesterday, but did not accumulate very much, perhaps 4″/10 cm, perhaps a little more. It has been pretty cold since mid/late January, which I guess makes up for the first half of January. I think this week will return to normal, which is great.

If We Were Having Coffee on the 13th of February, 2021

Hello and Welcome! Sit down and I’ll get you a nice steaming mug of super strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some nice hot cocoa. What do you mean you are cold? It is up to 15 F/-9 C already! And the sun is out and there is no wind. It’s a heat wave! Where are we? Some may know the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire. I know, this is the longest stretch in NH without a weekend on Cape Cod in 8 years! Not just by a little, but by a lot.

As I said last week, we are in the heart of winter now. I’m sure everyone knows that the Polar Vortex has taken up residency in central Canada and has had effects over most of North America. Actually, looking at the forecast, we will be getting closer to normal temperatures this week, but not warm. (Two days ago it showed a deep freeze for the week ahead).

If We Were Having Coffee on the 6th of February, 2021

Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a mug of very strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. I know it’s a little cold out here, but not frigid and no wind. And it is also sunny! We had some snow this week, so it is very pretty. Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire.

OK, start with weather. The deep freeze finally broke, but we have only gotten above freezing a couple of times and tomorrow it will start to get frigid again. There are no temperatures above freezing in the forecast and by next weekend we will be back to highs in the teens F (highs around -8 C). There is also supposed to be snow every other day, typically a few inches (maybe 10 cm) each time. It is so odd that winter was very late, but when it arrived, it arrived with a vengeance. Three weeks (or more) in a row with only three or four days above freezing? Ouch! But the last few years have been odd.

OK, this week was mostly the same as usual, and I want to zip through it. Exercise, walking dogs, no running (:( ), work, making sure book is ready to go, working on web sites, reading, etc. Typical.

If We Were Having Coffee on the 30th of January, 2021

Hello and Welcome! I would have you take a seat here at the picnic table, only you might freeze to death before I can get you your beverage, so come on in and we’ll stay socially distanced. It is sunny, and no longer windy (yesterday was awful!!!) and is a balmy 5 F/-15 C out there. Almost beach weather! I can get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a piping cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as begin from New Hampshire.

OK, I mentioned weather. If you remember, last weekend I said it was the coldest weather so far this winter. Well, that changed. This weekend is colder! yesterday was frigid and super windy. Today is just as cold, but thankfully a bit calmer. It will warm up a little this week. We had some snow last Tuesday night, so the ground is covered. We are supposed to get more this week, maybe up to a foot (30 cm). Not a lot (for NH!) but enough.
