Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is a little cool, but sunny and comfortable, so being outside is very much called for. Today won’t be as warm as yesterday, but still slightly on the warm side of average, and a gorgeous October day! Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being on Cape Cod.
I drove down here on Thursday night with the little kitten, Tiberius. Alexander was supposed to come as well, but disappeared just before I needed him. I looked and called, but no Alexander. I hear that about 4 hours later (yes after 10 PM…) the dogs started going crazy and Alexander showed up. He was someplace in the house napping, but it is so funny that the dogs knew we were trying to find him!
I know I am a little late for coffee, but I just got back from a very long paddle on the kayak. It was great! Yesterday I took a half day from work and took a long walk on the beach and a short swim. Yes, swim in October. I also mowed and did some yard work.
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other steaming beverage. Steaming? It is a bit chilly this morning! It will get pretty warm later. OK, warm is a relative term. I’m talking maybe 68 or 69F (20 C). We had a few days this week which were even cooler. In fact, those days felt like early October! lol. September was warm. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire.
It was an odd week. Work was very busy, but not insane.
This week I had a Lions Club meeting, which was, I think, our second face-to0face meeting in a year and a half. I also got a hair cut – I needed it! I didn’t do before and after photos, but there is a huge difference (it was May when I last had it cut).
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is sort of odd out – warmish and humid. It rained a lot over night and the forecast calls for passing showers, but hopefully it will be a nice day overall. Where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
So I drove down here Wednesday evening, after massage. I came alone – I almost took the cat Alexander, but at the last minute decided not to. My sleep has been pretty ragged of late, and much of it has to do with animals sleeping on top of me. Between weather and being busy, I really haven’t done much since I’ve been here, but I guess that is OK – I don’t have to be hiking or kayaking every waking minute, do I? I have done a little work around the house, which is good, but not a lot, which is bad – if it dries up at all, I will mow later today.
Work seemed to be busier than usual. There are always ups and downs. Not all is bad, and a little is self-induced as I pushed myself to do specific things.
I’ve been keeping up my exercise routine, but my running routine is way off.
While in New Hampshire I did a lot of dog walking and playing, cat/kitten playing and walking and other such. I’ve read, but that’s like saying “I breathed”.
I did a little editing of my next book of short stories – it is almost ready, but my “editors” have been too busy to help.
I have been getting back into music and a huge chunk of my spare time was spent playing. I think I am going to shift almost completely away from writing to music for a while. Although I love to write, music is my first love. I have always played, but I am not even close to the level I once was, so… We’ll see how it goes – often when I do these shifts of priorities it lasts for a few weeks, maybe months, and rarely a year or more.
That being said, I have been mostly in a writing phase for quite a few years (7? 8?) and was in a music phase for quite a few years before that (4? 5? 6?) and then it was 100% visual arts for about three years before that, so possibly I will switch again…
Looking at the above two paragraphs, that also means my blogging is goign to go down to a post or two a week. In fact, it already has. We’ll see. Besides not posting, I have not been able to find time to read blog posts at all. In the past, about 85% of blog time is reading, 10% answering comments and 5% writing. This week it was 10% reading, 87% answering comments and 3% writing…
Anyway, it is not raining and outside is calling! I need to get up and get back out there (I was out for a walk and doing yard work for about an hour and half already this morning).
Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by, but, as always, I can’t promise.
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a nice large mug of a super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is kind of funny out, warmish and humid. It will get almost hot with high humidity later today before we return back to normal early autumn weather on Sunday and Monday. It was a strange week weather-wise… Oh, where are we? Some may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire, and there is a story in that…
The main theme of the week has to be about dental work. I went in Tuesday afternoon for a filling. I had chipped the corner off of a tooth that had an existing filling back early last winter. Anyway, when they were starting to work on it they discovered that the damage had grown. I had lost the filling and had another chip. A decision was made to do a crown, but they couldn’t do it then. So the put in a blob-like filling while the admin people researched Insurance (or lack there-of – even my dental insurance sucks for dental work). I went back in on Thursday and had the the crown prepared and a temp put in. So I will have another visit later. Yuck…. One thing, I had planned on going to Cape Cod on Wednesday night. The Thursday appointment made that a no go.
Hello and Welcome! Come take a seat and I’ll get you a large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, or some other beverage. It is a beautiful day! The sun is shining and the sky is a deep blue. It started out almost cold, but is pretty warm now. You can feel Autumn in the air. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
OK, I can’t go farther without mentioning the date I wrote at the top of the post. Yeah, it has been 20 years since the terrorist attacks of 9/11. I have a friend who is a retired NYC firefighter who is down in the city this weekend. In 2001 I worked in the air traffic control facility that first reported the hijacked aircraft and made the decision to ground all of their planes – watching documentaries it is always interesting to see people I know being interviewed about it. So I am thinking about the date, but I don’t want to bring it up beyond acknowledging it.
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and take a seat! The temperature is perfect and the sun is out, though the table is in the shade. There is almost no humidity in the air, which is surprising. Well, maybe not: it feels like Autumn and it is September…. And where are we sitting this fine September morning? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from Cape Cod.
OK, I have posted very little in the last couple of weeks. Almost nothing at all! I have been busy on many levels. A good thing is that I had this week off of work, so not busy there! Well, I was last week….
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and grab a seat! I’ll get you a nice dark roast or a cuppa, but let me know if you want something cooler – it is a bit steamy today. It has been very humid most of the week and will get worse as Henri makes his way up the coast. Where are we? Some may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire
I left Cape Cod early Sunday, even if there was still family visiting. They are my wife’s family, and she was (is) still there, so not a problem. I brought Alexander back with me, but the dogs stayed on the Cape.
Work has been busy over the last week. I mean, it is usually busy, but it does fluctuate, and this was a busy part.
I did some work around the house, exercised and ran three times. I have been getting out of the routine, so it was a little difficult, but with a run last Friday (not included in the three), I have been pretty consistent for a week. I hope to keep it up… I walked, but not as much as usual – for one thing, Thursday was a washout. I also didn’t have as much time as I’d like. And the cat demanded on being out a lot ;) He was mad at me on Sunday when we got back, and actually tantrumed when I tried to bring him back into the house after our first couple of “walks”! After a day of getting used to NH again (read, sharing the house with Grace, who he hates), he was much better and quickly returned to normal. I also played a bit of music, keeping my synths on most of the day so I could play as I walked by, plus doing finger exercises at least once a day on the (real) piano. I did a little editing, but decided to let it sit for a couple of weeks so I can look at it with fresh eyes when I return to editing.
Today looks like it will be a nice day, so I need to get outside and move before the wet, tropical weather hits on Sunday – this will be a hot, humid week after the storm pulls that tropical air up here!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit :) If you have a coffee share, I will try to stop in, but, as usual, no promises (maybe on Sunday, when I will most likely be stuck inside). Hope you are having a great weekend!
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get a nice mug of super strong dark roast or a.. hmm, maybe something cool! It is now afternoon and is hot and muggy. It has been a warm week and hot the last few days, but super humid all week. Out here in the backyard it is a little cooler and there is a breeze, but it is still a bit steamy. Oh, where are we? Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as being on Cape Cod.
So I had a nephew and a niece down all week. I did some stuff with them, but they had surfing lessons and I worked most of the week. I had some time off, though. Work was tough…
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a nice strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage! It is cool, but not too cool and a bit humid. The sun is shining and there is a nice breeze. Where are we? Some may recognize the Beatles mug at the top of the page as being on Cape Cod.
So I left “The Cape” last Saturday night and drove back down here on Wednesday evening. I had a lot to do in New Hampshire, so…
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and I’ll get you a nice large mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is a bright and sunny morning. A little on the cool side (refreshing!) with a nice breeze. The humidity is as low as I’ve seen it in a long time. Perfect! Where are we? Some may recognize the photo at the top as being my backyard on Cape Cod.
OK, for starters i did pick up my car after the last coffee post. I even wrote a weekly smile post about it :)
Besides work this week, I had a Lions Club meeting. I think this was the first normal meeting in over a year. I had a dentist appointment (cleaning, etc.). And I had massage. I walked and played with dogs, walked and played with kittens and just walked on my own. I did a little work around the houses. I ran (I am not running enough and can feel it!). I exercised. I swam in the ocean yesterday afternoon, though it was just a quick dip.
