Photos (part 2 of 3) – Osprey!!

Yesterday I posted some of the photos I took at the end of May and through June. There were tons of photos, but I was missing the osprey. Well, here they are!

Anyway, as I said yesterday, I am planning three posts:

Photos – Everything but the Osprey…
Photos – Osprey! (This post)
Photos – Lens Review

This is number two, osprey!

Photos from Cape Cod, August 30, 2020 (Mostly Osprey)

On the 30th of August I did a long paddle on my kayak. I went up Bass River from close to Rt. 28 to Follins Pond with a few small detours both coming and going. The best detour was into Dinahs Pond, which can be seen from the highway, Rt. 6. About half of the shots on this post were taken there. Including the osprey with the needlefish, the osprey hitting the water and the cormorants.

Yes, I saw a lot of osprey that day! I took about 300 photos of osprey on that one paddle! I’m not sure if these are the best, but I do like most of them.

Photos of Cape Cod May – July, 2020

Yesterday I took a couple of hours and zipped through the hundreds of photos I have taken in the last few months.  I didn’t look at every photo – I barely even glanced at the photos of flying osprey, of which there were hundreds, but grabbed one from this weekend: Continue reading

The Weekly Smile for 4/6/2020 #weeklysmile

weeklysmile2a

I like watching and photographing birds of prey.  My favorites are the osprey.  I see a lot of them on Cape Cod, but I never tire of them.  They are around for about six months of the year, so it has been a while since I have seen any.

Until Saturday.

I saw a couple while walking the dogs, so later I went out, camera in hand, to my favorite osprey “hunting” ground, sans dogs.  See them, I did.  At one time I saw perhaps 25!  It is possible a few seagulls were mixed in, but still… wow! I have never seen that many at once.

The day was awful for photography.  The herring have not begun to run yet, so I didn’t see any catch fish, or even dive at all, but it was still great to see them.  Here is a photo from Saturday: Continue reading

Too Many Photos, Too Little Time ;)

Osprey at Sunset

I take so many photos and rarely take the time to go through them.  I just downloaded about 250 more photos to my computer.  Sigh.  Some of them are nice, like the ones form the seal watch tour.  Oh well, perhaps I will have time to look at them later.  But here is a teaser – the photo at the top is of an osprey flying at sunset, the one below is a seal form pretty close up.

Photos from Late June and Early July, 2019

Immature red Tail Hawk flying over

I used to do a lot of photo posts, but haven’t put many up recently.  I have literally thousands of photos from 2018 and early 2019 that I have not even looked at let alone sorted and edited!  over the last week I broke down and looked at the last few.

I spent the last week of June on Cape Cod.  I worked half of the week and entertain guests, so I didn’t take a lot of photos that I can post, but there are a few, like this photo of my nephew fishing. Continue reading

Time and Photos :(

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I used to do a weekly “Media Monday” post.  I’m not sure what happened to it.  Well, I do.  One thing you most likely know is that I take a lot of photos.  Unfortunately, I don’t have time to go through photos.  I have about 2000 photos that I’ve taken over the last three months that I have not looked at.  Anyway, the osprey chick and osprey butt at the top of the page is a sample of some of the photos I have taken without going through. The eagle photo below is another one.  Hopefully sometime I will find the time…

Osprey, Cape Cod, Late April 2018

osprey

I spent a chunk of the last week in April on Cape Cod.  On one of my walks down a Bell’s Neck in Harwich I watched about a half a dozen osprey hunt/fish.  I took well over 200 photos!  The sky was awful – it was cloudy and about noon.

Heres looking at you

My camera also did a weird thing in its focusing and exposure.  I have noticed that occasionally some settings will seem to change randomly.  Long and short, the exposures were awful for anything not pointing at the water.  The sun did eventually come out and a couple of osprey flew by, so I have a couple of “sunny photos”. Osprey – Early April, 2018

Osprey in Flight

I have not done a photo post in ages.  I used to do one a week.  I’ve been caught up in other things and actually have over 1000 photos from August 2017 – December 2017 that I have not even looked at.  It’s hard to go back, but I decided to go through all of photos I took this winter and early spring.  Almost all of the photos were from the last two trips to Cape Cod – last weekend (around April 14) and around March 31.

I decided to do four posts.  I will make the links “hot” as I put up each new post.

Cape Cod Late June 2017

Osprey

I was on Cape Cod for a week in late June of this year.  As usual, I took a ton of photos.  I finally got a chance to dig through them.  There were just too many ;)  The hard part was weeding them out and picking my favorites.  Not always the best.  For instance,  I like this Osprey with a stick:

Osprey with stick

Not as good as the photo at the top of the page, but I like the stick.  I actually took a few photos of osprey with sticks, and some with fish, but most didn’t come out very well. Continue reading
