The Weekly Smile for the 26th of September, 2022 #weeklysmile

Hi All! I know I sometimes sound like a broken record on these posts, but some things really make me smile ;) Oh, for those who are not ancient, vinyl records would sometimes get scratches which made them skip. Sometimes that old album would repeat the same partial phrase over and over and over and over until you moved the tone arm. I know, back when the brontosaurus roamed… Anyway, that is what a “broken record” is…

I spent the weekend on Cape Cod. Saturday was a beautiful day, though it started very windy. I took a long walk in the woods in the morning, where the high winds didn’t matter. I did an equally long walk on the beach in the afternoon. The wind was not coming off of the water, so it was easy. But I also noticed that it had died down quite a bit.

That meant I could go out on the kayak!

If We Were Having Coffee on the 18th of January, 2020

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of super-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is a bit chilly out, but feels balmy after the screeching winds and bitter cold of yesterday.  Quite a change from last week’s weather report, no? ;)  And were are we?  Some of you may know that Edward Gorey mug as being just a few miles from the Edward Gorey House on Cape Cod.

Wow, quite the week.  I spent pretty much all of last weekend outside enjoying the weather.  I even went running in shorts and t-shirt! I did the typical long walks, exercizing, other runs and a massage on Wednesday (hi Dottie ;) ).  Wednesday evening I drove down here to The Cape.

I did a few walks in the strong wind on Thursday and hit the beach for the sunset. The entire sky was all sorts of cool (actually warm ;) ) colors that would be impossible to capture – you had to be there in the full 360 degree glory of it all.  Here it is starting to dip down. Continue reading

Reality Slips Away #haiku

west-dennis-evening

‘Neath indigo skies
Red glow on the horizon
Real world turns to dream

Water slips to sleep
The evening turns into night
But what awakens?

Final glow reflects
Day creatures take one last look
Night creatures their first

This was written for Colleen’s weekly poetry challenge. This week we could chose our own key words.  I did a haiku or two or three…

Too Many Photos, Too Little Time ;)

Osprey at Sunset

I take so many photos and rarely take the time to go through them.  I just downloaded about 250 more photos to my computer.  Sigh.  Some of them are nice, like the ones form the seal watch tour.  Oh well, perhaps I will have time to look at them later.  But here is a teaser – the photo at the top is of an osprey flying at sunset, the one below is a seal form pretty close up.

I Want Your Smiles 73 #weeklysmile Reminder

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

In the last few weeks I’ve posted quite a few photos from my new camera on Facebook.  Yesterday I took a quick shot of the sun setting across Swan Pond, the small body of brackish water that is about 100 yrds/meters from my house.  Yes, there is a landing there were I launch my kayak.

Anyway, so I took a quick phone photo and posted it to Instagram and Facebook.  It’s OK, but the real thing had so many colors that my hone didn’t capture, shades of purple, etc.  I have rarely received as much attention for a photo.  One person said it was the best photo I’ve taken in a while – a person who saw all of the waterfall and Cape Cod photos I’ve posted recently.  And it’s a phone photo… Continue reading

Sunrise/Sunset – All on the Longest Day (Almost)

It was the longest day of the year. OK, I exaggerate. It was the day before the longest day of the year. I woke up a little before 5 AM on Friday June 19. Even though I was at “The Camp” it was a work day. I walked down to Swan Pond. It was gorgeous, the mist hanging just ever the smooth surface. I went back and grabbed my camera. Continue reading
